Do I need to own a mill to get flour?
I need flour for my bakery, do I have to physically own a mill to get flour or is there a way to buy it?

You can buy one of the existing Mill's that is on the map at start or you can build your own mill through the construction menu. From what I understand, you need to own the specific building that requires a specific ingredient to make the more advanced items used in the production chains.

You need to buy or build a grain mill to produce the flower and buy or build a bakery to use the flower to make bread. Make sure you select "distribute" in the grain mill. Your flower will be automatically shipped to the bakery.

Thanks for the replies, I thought that would be the case.

As a sidenote, I have tested the production chain some with a 'Creative' save. If you choose 'Distribute' WITHOUT owning the next shop in the production chain your goods will store in a sort of "off-site storage facility"/digital warehouse up to I believe 100,000L.

This means that if you own the Grain Mill you can select 'distribute' and stockpile a load of flour in it until you own the Bakery. Just that after buying the next step in the production chain give the system a few minutes to catch up and transfer the goods to the new store.
