What is the point of a subsoiler vs a plow?
It was discussed before that cultivators/plows/subsoilers will produce different sized rocks, so i assumed, i think fairly, that there would be a reward from this extra effort. However based on the in-game information it appears there's no incentive to use a subsoiler which is slower, digs up bigger rocks, and requires more horsepower or less width or both. This sounds like a downgrade from FS19 where subsoilers were in effect disregarded unless you were creating a new field and wanted perfectly straight sides and corners. Now it's even more discouraged?

subsoilers i think ( and spaders ) are just easier to use, and quicker ( unless you have one of the massive plows )

Subsoilers combine a plow and cultivator in one machine, saving you time when prepping your field. IRL, you don't plant right after plowing since plowing creates an uneven seedbed and would drastically reduce the crop yield; you must cultivate after plowing to create an even seedbed.

my logic is a sub soiler should dig deeper than the plow, the plow turns the top soil, the sub should be replacing your top soil with soil from below the topsoil creating new top soil. thats my understanding in real life anyway

a sub soiler should leave a plowed state its nothing like a cultivator irl, a cultivator just loosens the soil it doesnt turn it over like the plow and sub should.

I know. IRL, subsoilers are used in combination with a power harrow to even the soil. Without the power harrow, a subsoiler is essentially a small plow.

the issue is the Plows don't have the greatest working width, and are not square so are very difficult to use, even the poor AI workers don't work well with them. At least the largest Subsoiler, while having an incredible HP requirement, at least has a decent working width when needing to "plow" a large field. I generally have kept the "plowing" setting turned off because of this very reason. Only time I ever use a Plow type thing is for fields that needed prior to the setting being turned off (aka when the map was generated).
