Disabling Field Stone
Field stone is a pain. They generate far too quickly, and even actions as simple as using ridge marker on a freshly picked field will create a steady line of stones.

So I tried to disable them in options; but it's a no-go.
Stones keep spawning even though they are set to OFF.
I started a new game too, and turned them off immediately.
They still spawn, make the field impossible to drive over, and shatter all of my tractors and tools.

Is there any way to turn field stone OFF, or edit the save game files to remove them???

It's been a week and there have been zero patches or fixes, but enough bugs to overshadow FS19's launch-... what's going on???

Patches take more time as it will include fixes for many issues versus releasing a ton of micro patches. We're hoping to see the first patch sometime between now and Christmas.

As far as your issue. I believe this is a bug and has already been reported. The damage to equipment from stones in the fields is minimal from testing videos I've watched. In other words, the amount of money you would need to pay for a repair is not as much as you would spend on the fuel and time (labor if you hire AI) to pick the rocks out.

There's no going back; all of the rocks spawned while they were off are no longer possible to be picked up.

And no, I don't think 15-20k repairs every four months is too cheap-...

use shallow cultivators
or plows that have a "packer" attachment option in the store.

that way you should only get small stone, which you don't have to pick, you can roll those instead. and the rollers in game both have good working width. and working speed.

In it's current state the most reasonable thing to do, is to plow the field, pick up the stones and then sell them. Then plow the field again, pick up the stones and sell them.

Repeat ad infinitum for your own unlimited quarry profits. That's like 100€ profit per run. Only 500 times and the stone picker has paid for itself. What a steal!

its waay faster and easier to mow grass, pick it up with a forage wagon that has the silage stuff tank so that you get a 5% pickup boost.

then dump the forage wagon empty on the ground, and then pick it up again. to get another 5% boost.

repeat, turn to silage, sell.

I'm confused at the 'small vs large' stones. Do they physically have different appearances, or are they just... arbitrary...

they have a different size,

this is large stone https://farming-simulator.com/cms/uploads/news_61486b41323d0.jpg
what you see in front of the roller is small stone https://farming-simulator.com/cms/uploads/news_61486b412bb64.jpg

basically the difference is large stones are about fist size or slightly larger. whiles the small stone are basically pebbles.

i usually only generate small stones which can be rolled back into the ground with a roller, which u should be using anyway cause i heard it improves yield too

I was joking. Nice exploit though. Magical silage multiplication sounds fun :D

For what it is worth, if you already seeded a field, you cannot remove any stones thereafter. Only until after you harvest can you then go in and remove the stones.

As far as their help section in the game is concerned, it doesn't improve yield, it just reduces mechanical repair degradation to your equipment. Getting rid of stones means your equipment used after a cultivator or plow doesn't additional damage.

Some peoples equipment "shatters" on the slightest contact with stones, and fields are "impossible" to drive over.
Yet i ignore stones in my game, i never pick em up, and they have barely any effect in my game on hard mode.
I wonder where the discrepancy of perception comes from :lunar2019deadpanpig:

Do you do your own farm-work or hire it out? That does make a difference to wear and tear on machines.

I never used an AI in about 110h gametime now, i do all myself, cause i want it done properly :D
