You can either toss the bales into it or use that grinder looking extension arm on it to grind it to loose
I've tried this and have read a few things online that say it's a real pain to get it just right in the feeder icon for the animal. I'll try again but I haven't had much luck with it.

Yes, my hayloft is full of hay atm. I had some hay left over from the tedder and baled it into round bales. Do they have to be small square bales instead?

Chopper wagon also works. Just slow to use as you have to load it bales one by one.
