What other games does this support well?
What VR system are you using? I wonder if it would be worth it to upgrade.
Im with valve index, Reyzen 7 3700, RTX 3070, 32 GB DDR4.
This rig was struggling bad with performance in FS19 with VorpX, but FS22 whole different story. I don't know what they did with the engine, but performance impact is now by far not that heavy as it was in FS19. I didn't expect that. FS19 i was barelly making 30-40 fps with only 1200x900 per eye and low/medium settings. Now in FS22 i can crank up the graphics and resolution and its staying smooth. Just amazing, everything is sharp and looks pretty like in native VR games.
Yea i didn't regret it. Just for FS22 vorpx is worth it already i would say. FS19 was disappointing, but now its much better.
There are few points to consider though. VorpX for today does not officially fully support FS22 yet, as it was just released. However the author has promised that its definetelly going to be supported as soon as possible. He already released a preliminary profile for FS22, that enables Geometry 3D (real 3d, not fake z-buffer 3d). But it now works only when the game is running in Dx11 mode and also it does not work with DLSS enabled yet. However even with Dx11 and TAA it looks no any worse and performs well too. One issue is there though, but its not really a problem. In Dx11 mode, the game obviously is using the main thread to load stuff in the background. Therefore in the beginning of a game session there are micro stutters happening. But its only for the first few minutes until the game has loaded everything it needs. Then it stops stuttering and runs smooth.
No, they have released already a preliminary fs22 profile which can be imported from the cloud. Its not yet finished, therefore not officially supported but they are working on it. I tested it and it works very well already, just not with Dx12 yet.
Thanks for your reply! When there's a dx12 profile I consider trying it on my old rift just to get an idea of it.
Although the forum community would probably send me to hell for it, FS22 is indeed very, very optimized with a lot of mechanics that make hardware allocation working compared to FS19. They did a good job there.
Depends on the game. With some games its working very well, with others not really. Usually native VR games have relatively poor graphics for the sake of performance. But they also usually have VR controller support so it's difficult to compare with native VR games. With vorpx you must be lucky to have really good results. Not every game can be rendered in Geometry 3D (real 3d) without glitches. There are also not many that can do it without major performance impact too. FS19 was such an example. It worked with geometry 3d without glitches, but the performance impact was so heavy that it was not really enjoyable, no matter what hardware you used. FS22 now with the upgraded engine seems to overcome this and in my opinion is now on the list of the games that work very good with vorpx. It has geometry 3d now and does not have such a heavy performance impact with it. The only thing im missing now is VR controller support. This is something vorpx cannot provide unfortunately.
I didn't try so many yet. You should ask that in the vorpx forum.
From those i tried those worked nice with real 3d: FS22, Long Dark, The Hunter Call of the Wild, Medieval Dynasty. Didn't work well for me SCUM, Subnautica BZ, Bannerlord, Fishing in North Atlantic, UBOAT.
yea the original has rudimentary VR support, BZ doesn't. VorpX supports BZ but the result is not really impressing. It has distortions, too many glitches and performs not so well too. I tried it, well its not really enjoyable in my opinion. I had to tune down graphics to a point where it looks very poor. The glitches are extremely annoying. There are workarounds from the community for the glitches, but they come with too many compromises. Like having to play without shadows and stuff. Original Subnautica is much better in terms of VR although it also has issues.

I for one will be hiding under my computer desk until it's safe again.
