Vehicle repairs...also ridiculous
Seems this economy (normal) on new farmer in Elmcreek is just not sustainable. I have $34,000 in cash. $6,000 in lease fees, 10,000L of Canola in silo waiting for price to go up.

Now my tractor with 4hrs on it needs $12,000 in repairs and something like $50,000 for paint. I am picking up rocks in my fields btw. I haven't even looked at my other equipment yet.

In FS19, were repair fees this high? I used to repair my equipment after every use becuase i had a tool box, but not in FS22 yet.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

Am i the only one not having these problems on medium settings? or are you all playing on HARD?

Dont worry, i play on hard and also dont have these problems... i think many people buy the biggest machine they can afford and work their tiny plot with it and can not sustain it, and that results in all the whining.

But as it was often said before, the frequency is too much, the price is fine(in my eyes) considering it is a gameplay balance thing and has nothing to do with reality.

Its not a problem and secondly i guarantee most people complaining are doing so because they own multiple huge fields and you cant even finish one day of planting/cultivating, or whatever else before the tractor is completely destroyed. I am playing on hard but pulling in millions of dollars every harvest the money is NOT the problem the problem is with the completely ridiculous wear scales, my tractor gets destroyed before 1 tank of gas is run through it, how is that not something to complain about?

the cost of maintenance is about right. just that you shouldnt go from 100%-0% maintenance faster than fuel... as for paint, every scratch requires a full repaint... or you just let it go and only repaint every couple years, if that.. and you always pay for a FULL repaint so everything matches perfect.

The purpose with repainting is really if you are going to sell the vehicle. If it says you need to repaint a harvester for $25k, you'll get at least an additional $25k in the sell price by doing so.

If you do so just to make it look like, of course that is a choice, but it will degrade again. Past the cosmetic value if not selling, there's really no point to do so.

Repairs are another thing entirely and do have a direct impact on the functionality of the equipment.

Here goes Xeno again. Telling us all how paying 16k for repairs on a brand new tractor is how the farming world works.

There are only two reasons to repaint a vehicle...

1) So you increase the value before you sell it. If it costs 25k to repaint a harvester, you'll get that 25k at least back in value when selling it.

2) Cosmetic look. Downside here is the paint will degrade again so personally I don't repaint my vehicles unless I plan to sell them.

Will the size of the equipment matter? if i use a med size tractor that is 300hp to pull a plow that wants a 300hp wont this make my tractor have to work alot harder than say a large 400hp tractor and so a higher repair bill?

If you use equipment outside of the tractors capabilities i do believe it wears faster but within its ratings i believe it stays "normal" wear

Its not. On a real farm repairs and maintaining equipment is a reality, sure. BUT you dont need to repair every last machine and implement every year. At least not to the point it costs $30,000. Sometimes you do, but its not every year on every machine. Unless you drive your combine into a ditch all the time. I personally think the costs are okay but machines degrade too quickly. And that kind of feels what a lot of people are also saying. Its not that it cost 10 grand to fix it, its that it costs 10 grand every other time you use the machine.

I'm having trouble making any money because almost everything I make is going into repairs. I play at 1x speed and I have to repair my tractor every 2-3 hours, for $20k every single time. That's not even including paint. I'm completing every contract and running greenhouses for extra production, and I'm still barely making any money because of the repair costs. I hope they correct this soon. It's making it hard to advance at all in the game.

You clearly dont know what a tractor costs to repair. Tens of thousands of dollars is very common. Don't worry i'm sure a mod will come along so you dont have to worry about it

But it is not normal that a new tractor after one hour of operation and one hour of real time already has repair costs of over 10k, if you have not put it on the roof.
Your brand new tractor shouldn't be that busted after just an hour of working. My New Holland T9.700 (value when new: 501k€) took around 4k€ after 5 hours of work (had lost around 10~20% HP. I tend to fix everything at latest around 25%) since previous maintenance (meanwhile the paintjob would take around 100k€ to fix... just give me a bucket and I'll paint the damn thing myself). Even if the tractor was completely busted it'd take around 50k€ to fix (as repairing from 0% should cost 10% of the original value), but no way in hell would I take that 40% hit in my field yield while using a busted machine.

They have not solved this problem with the current patch.

-Adjusted repair costs

So they did something.. maybe its better now?

It is fine now
Actionjackson 16 grudnia 2021 o 8:03
There is nothing left of the repair cost, i would not call that fine, they nerf it to the ground. But the whining stops so they are happy. Now you have "fake realistic" repair cost while you have unrealistic income, great realism, so much wow. :lunar2019crylaughingpig:
