Why are mirrors so unrealistic in this game?
For a game where driving large machinery plays a major role, mirrors are so underwhelming and unrealistic. I mean look at this... [imgur.com] there is a reason smaller mirror is separated IRL you know Giants? It should be at different angle, we also don't have option to manually adjust mirrors at what angle we prefer... plus there is again that bug from previous game where one mirror is laggy and shows wrong reflection.

Why solve this problem if people will bring them money all the same?

Sorry Google Translate...

Why? Because performance. Mirrors in the game are just extra cameras, of which the output is rendered in game. What you want, a realistic wide-angle mirror, means increasing the FOV of the cameras of those mirrors. That takes a LOT of resources. Sure, it can be done, but should you? It would be nice if you could turn it on as an option, but don't be surprised if you need a 3080Ti to run the game with 2 mirrors and 2 wide-angle mirrors on any kind of acceptable level.

You can have god knows how many mirrors in ETS2 and ATS that work perfectly fine lol. Having 4 functional mirrors shouldn't be too much to ask for

You don't even have to go look at a different genre. Profesional Farmer: Cattle and Crops also has fully functional mirrors, this include manual adjustment. Too bad though the developers there ran into financial problems and never really could finish the game to what they wanted it to be. But even still what is there in the farming aspect it is way more then what FS22 has.

I strongly disagree here. rendering a mirror in game OR rendering the environment behind the mirror if it wasn't there should be the same (or very close) set of resources. I've had fully functional mirrors (3 of them) in car and truck sims for YEARS. No.. these mirrors where just lazy shortcuts.

Have you guys tried rendering a second camera in FS? It takes a lot of resources, that's just the way it is. Sure, other sims can do it, but those sims all run different engines. I heard battlefield has amazing environmental destruction properties, do you also expect that in this game? I'm not saying it's impossible to do, at all, but if you want to do it in FS as the game currently stands, you'll need beefy hardware, that's just the way it is.

If you want to change that, submit a feature request on their support page.

Just go into the options menu select advanced options and set the number of mirrors to what you want. I run with 4 mirrors and the game runs fine, but more than that will cause some lag.

Thanks this fixed the fourth mirror that kept showing wrong reflection on tractors, for angles i will wait for mod that will add the option for them.

Have you tried adjusting your FOV setting? Default is 60 so make small adjustment until you find the setting that works best for you. I found the setting of 85 works best for me and I can see everything on both sides and behind. Hopefully the adjustable mirror mod get ported over to 22 soon.

But the mirrors are rendering other Cameras... so it works perfectly fine, but Giants is to lazy to adjust them, change FOV of some of them or give the mirrors manual adjustments.

to be honest FS22 has the worst mirrors in any simulator game,if they would add a way by defualt to adjust them this game would be almost perfect.

I understand that most play the game on a game pad and dont really care to much about a feature like this nothing wrong with that,

but for someone like me and other who take simulation games to the higher levels with fully rigged simulator cockpits wheels vr or tripples ect a basic feature of mirrors is 100 percent must have with out it, it can take you out of the immersion of the simulation aspect. ( meaning forcing your self to never use 3d person view and use only in cab view.

there is a mod thought that gives this how ever it has very awfull graphic glitches its not realistic. as a simulation should be.
