Have to say very disappointed with that. I'd sooner have a native GPS system in the game then the ability to customise number plates. I'd rather have a useful feature. I mean Farmer's have only been using GPS for 30 years, obviously such a new system must be hard to bring to the game.
I would guess GPS has something to do with the console control scheme, so once again a console games holds up functionality for everyone else. Courseplay, Autodrive and GPS all use expanded controls which are already fairly maxed out on a controller.
Wow, well thats absolute nonsense you just made up and ran with...i play farming sim with my PS4 controller and i have easily assigned the controls to my PS4 controller, i even use the virtual keyboard at times.
This a small thankfully irrelevant example of misinformation. "I would guess" followed by baseless conjecture.
The FS19 guidance steering mod is PC only and the common reasoning is that consoles don't allow script based mods, so that's why it is not available.
Giants has chosen to not put GPS in the base game for at least two versions (19 & 22), if not more despite it being a highly requested item. It's not like it's a heavy mod at 120kb that doesn't interact with anything other than the players occupied equipment.
This means that Giants has actively chosen to not put the functionality in the game. The potential rumored reasons that I have heard of:
- It makes the game too easy ... I don't believe as this is typically a cover for one of the items below. It's almost impossible to loose at Farm Sim as is. This is more so a cover when Helpers exist.
- The average player (one who doesn't read the forums, etc) would find it too hard to understand ... I don't believe as this is typically a cover for one of the items below
- Consoles don't have the hp to run it ... I don't believe this as consoles have the resources to support more complex DLCs
- Console controls are already close to maxed out ... believable, more so after playing the game with a steering wheel that has all the same buttons as the controller.
- Console UI limitations make it hard to implement in a clean manner ... believable, many games have sacrificed PC functionality at the alter of the console.
- Devs are too dumb to implement ... I don't believe
- Devs don't have resources to implement ... I don't believe as they pissed money down the drain on Farm Sim League.
Dont have one bro. Theres infinite reasons. Theres loads of other mods that should be implemented but is not and will not with FS22.
Getting angry about something based on conjecture is dumb tho.
And controllers are no where near maxed out. Using the L1 + R1 configuration system standard to FS19 i have loads of unused inputs i can still assign, while running GPS and AutoDrive.
Why should I play a game for a year that is missing a key mod because the devs decided adding grapes was more important?
If this were the argument, helpers would not be in the game.
This is what courseplay does to some extent. Courseplay is a better AI management mod that allows the player to automate a good portion of the game.
GPS still requires the player to be in the tractor and make the turn at the end. GPS does the same thing it does IRL, it prevents unnecessary overlap and skipping to decrease wasted time.
I'd be in favor of a more management style game similar to Farm Manager (which is complete trash).
