Then you must not have been buying games for the last few years. Literally every major released game has a timezone release schedule. It's almost never released at exactly midnight, because you can't. Midnight in which timezone? Yours? Japans? UK? Releasing it the way they are doing it with this DLC means everyone gets it at the same time, which means different times on different parts of the globe. If it was Midnight for everyone, then some countries would get it first, which would probably lead people like you to ♥♥♥♥♥ about that as well.

I bought Elden Ring at launch, though, so I cannot take advantage of the package deal. This means that players who bought Elden Ring at full price prior to the DLC have to pay more than new players who can get both the game and DLC for $19.99 less than people who supported Elden Ring at launch.

This is common, and I was banned from The Banner Saga forums back in the day for taking issue with this business practice. We are actively punished for being long-time fans that they know they can pressure to buy the DLC for a higher price.
