I was sure adding them directly is one of the things that triggers EAC, so I always just spawned consumables. Was I overly cautious all this time?
Hey, it definitely never hurts to be too cautious, especially when an 180 day timeout is at stake.

Sure, but not everyone doing this is twinking. I'm pretty much exclusively a PvE player. I think the only time I've ever invaded was to progress Varre's quest, and these days I generally do the NPC invasion in Altus instead.

Trust me, I've made a note of how the existence of certain items seems to only benefit those who hack the items in, like the Radiant Baldachin's Blessing, an item so powerful that it has to be extremely rare, but so rare that no one would waste it on PvP. Starlight Shards are another good example. People will hack them in, so they should either be farmable for everyone or they shouldn't be in the game in the first place (or locked from PvP usage).

Even if I don't do PvP myself, it still frustrates me to see poor design choices. And ER PvP is very poorly designed.
It's more work but safer to give yourself 650 Lord's Runes. Then just pop a few as you need a little extra.

Same brain
Yeah, I think I've heard something similar. Certain methods of adding items directly to your inventory will flag you as a cheater. The way Grand Merchant works is that you buy or craft the items, which tricks the game into thinking you found it legitimately. I think the same is true if you can spawn items on the ground and pick them up, instead of spawning them directly in your inventory.

I played my share of online multiplayer, been there done it. People don't change, cheating always will be apparent, online service will be bad at times, developers/publishers will be focused on money instead providing best experience, and generally the core concept will favour those who can play the game 24/7. If you can take all that with a grain of salt you may enjoy. I for myself prefer not to bother and just stick to single player with occasional co-op/LAN (with people I know).

i use a mod to keep my runes from losing after death and 100%drop rate too. if i use this online will that be considered as cheating?

hey, u can try installing wemod
https://www.wemod.com/
just signup and then add Elden ring as an exe if it's a repack or if it's bought on steam it will automatically pick up the game.
start Elden ring from we mod and u will have an overlay of mods if pressed alt+W
u can toggle 100% drop rate and can farm the weapons or armor u need easily.
I think it works with EAC too but to be safe launch in offline mode.

Yup, I use the lite version of Grand Merchant to gear up new characters, especially when I want to try a build using DLC or end game equipment, such as the One-Eyed Shield or Rellana's Twin Blades.

Ehey, did they finally reupdate Grand Merchant? I've been waiting for the author to come back after it got left alone post-DLC, I sorely miss it for gearing up new characters or spawning in consumables -- Pulley Crossbow blows through Coldbone Bolts way too quick.

Agreed. The first time I used Grand Merchant and realized I could spawn in super-Baldachin's for myself, I had a moment of hesitation. Did it anyways, I wanted them there as a "just in case", but I found myself just not wanting to use them knowing they were close to a true cheat. It's one thing to skip farming and spawn in a few hundred Lord's Runes, that just saves the tedium of Albinauric slaughter, but Baldachin's felt wrong. Also annoys me that while I agonize over using them, someone else out there is probably all like "awesome, I'm going to be so good at pvp with these".

I'll admit, I still like Starlight shards, and they're just available enough in the regular game that I don't mind blowing one from time to time in places I would use one normally, but what I don't like is when I feel they're used as a replacement for Mind, blue flasks, and restoration effects like Blue Dew.

Golem Arrows should just be purchaseable in a shop. They're too hard to farm for how fun they are, reminds me of the Millwood Greatbow.
don't cheat Smithing stone you will get banned
I just use mods that allow me to power level beyond normal grinding capacity. It's still technically legit, since you're not actively tweaking the games code in the files to alter your stats, it's still being done by the intended method of levelling up through runes, just at an exponentially faster rate multiplying the number of runes from what I currently possess, then implying a multiplier to quadruple the value of the rune and level up as such. Beyond that, I don't use any sort of cheat engine to alter the rest of my playing experience. Maybe use one quick mod to max out some resources stashed away to craft when I need them, but that's about it. No god mode, no invulnerability hack, just levelling and resources.

The only flags that EAC check for, are Story Related items, Story Related Boss kills and legal statistic numbers.

I 'know of' an invader, that was able to move an ER save to Offline, completely fill their inventory with gear, items, golden seeds, consumable items (including souls, and rare things like starshards) -- with the maximum possible amount an inventory can hold.

Then, close cheat engine and take the character back online, completely consequence free.
i use ch**ts all the time and never got banned. i use few of the really good ch**ts trainers

You will not get banned as long as you go offline before adding items ,

DO NOT HACK YOUR STATS! Or give yourself items that have been “cut” from the game and you will be fine !

I use CE all the time now when starting new characters. I give them a backstory , unlock 4 pouches , give them some “late game “ weps because I hate having to keep using the same crap early game weps (boooooring!)

Bell bearings and certain armor depending on my character .

I never got banned after 3000 hours before I go offline first then online when I’m done .

As long as you use it offline you can add items and runes, do not ever change anything about your character that would make it impossible to do playing normally. Technically having 999 dragonscale flesh is not impossible as you can do 300 ng+ or somehow trade other people for that item, so you can get away with something like that, but having 99 str as a level 30 is impossible so you will immediately be found out and executed.
