Is shadow of the erdtree worth it?
I've been keeping myself 100% spoiler free of the DLC (somehow) since release date, since i did really wanna get it, but i have a funny thing called: got put out of my job close to release lmao.

I was wanting to know, do y'all think its worth it, and should i save up to get it sometime? Or is it a miss. (Please don't say anything of the dlc, just if you think its worth it, i wanna stay blind.)

Sorry about your job, dude.

Overall, the DLC has many hours of content. The exploration is a bit confusing, but enjoyable. The bosses can be a bit more difficult than what I would enjoy. Had to cheese many of them because I'm not banging my head against them for days. But if you have time and patience to deal with some difficulty spikes, I guess they are good fights.

Compared to the ratio of money spent to total hours of content, I would say it's a good buy.

The DLC is pretty huge, and there are a lot of new items, etc. I like it as much or more than the base game.

Worth it.

It will probably be on sale around christmas.

I hope you get better job soon.

Nope it isn't.

Has some good content but it's not worth the price tag at all. Half of the map is completely empty and many areas are disappointing. Despite looking big the actual content will not be worth it. Only get it if your money situation is good otherwise you're probably better off saving more for a new game.

If I were in your situation I would only consider it if I planned on replaying it a lot

what the person above said. while the map looks cool, a large part of it is insanely empty with barely anything to do and it makes exploring boring. there are a few great bosses but most of them are very disappointing in my opinion. won't go into detail so I don't spoil anything for you but unless they add more content or seriously rebalance some of the bosses it's not worth the money and in its current state it's really not up to the standards of fromsoft, overall a huge disappointment with how much hype they made around it

LOL, no

I didn't think it was worth it going in blind. But: with some mild spoiling, definitely worth it.

Spoiling to improve quality of life (no spoilers, just where to spoil):
  • Don't random about on the map, because the area is too large and convoluted for its content. At least don't spend too long on finding the map fragments. Once found, mark the areas of interest and beeline for these.
  • Don't go in underleveled: the demo players went in at RL150, and if the DLC is beating your head in find the DLC level up items first. Spoil yourself if needed.
  • fire golems. Are their drops worth it? If not, ignore.
  • Should a boss switch from an engaging challenge to a frustrating chore, check out how the pro's deal with them

I think it sorely misses a dojo, so you can check out the new combat techniques and brutally hard enemies for more than 2 seconds before bonfire. Sekiro did it right!

Sorry to hear about your job, if anything it would be a reason to get the DLC* to take your mind off for a bit. Hope you find a better job soon and many loathsome frogs to touch.

*or whatever else can do that for you

I believe the bosses alone are worth more than that. Also, you get new and interesting weapons and ashes.

100% agree on the emptiness, but there are ways around that.

How could it be worth it for this price tag. In the end it´s just another yet smaller bossrush sim.
Rather wait a little and buy a proper rpg like the upcoming KCD2.

or the soon releasing

Both much more worth your money.

Well i am very mixed on if the DLC is worth it.

+ Cool new weapons and spells
+ some cool new areas
+ some cool new bosses
+ the lore on one of the bosses is insanely good and after you read items or watched youtube video about him fighting him is very special.

- a lot and i mean a lot of emptiness where you just ride a horse for 5 minutes and thats it.
- Story is even more strange than the main game story and id argue also pretty meh the story itself is 3/10 at most. ( Lore about what happend before you enter dlc is good but i mean the actual story of the game which is from entering DLC to Killing end boss.)
- most bossfights are mediocre and some of them are even very annoying and the opposite of fun

Id say its probably worth it but its close.
DLC overall is a 6.5/10 for me

for me the dlc was worth it, its more elden ring and its high fromsoft quality
Fineous🔥 Oct 10, 2024 @ 4:07am
Yes, OP. Specially with your 1something Elden Ring hours, more From quality content to keep going!
Get Out Oct 10, 2024 @ 4:12am
Absolutely, whoever says it's not is smoking some crack for sure. The DLC is roughly 60-80 hours of extra content. A vast map, with a lot of secrets, dungeons, bosses and secrets. It's like 1\3rd of the Lands Between. There are plenty of bosses, great storyline, and completely new weapons and weapon classes. Absolute FromSoft quality.
