How do I beat Margit, The fell omen?
I'm new to souls, I've only ever played a little bit of bloodborne and the original dark souls so I only really know some of the mechanics and I'm stuck on Margit. Is it something like asylum demon where I'm meant to come back later or is it a skill issue?

You're meant to explore the world a bit more and get stronger before coming back to fight him. Even then, he's pretty tough, so don't be afraid to use summons or a shield.

However, note that summoning, even the Rogier NPC, increases Margit's health by a lot. Summoning spirit ashes doesn't though, so those are usually the best.

Patches also sells a shackle to lock him down once during the fight too if your still having trouble. But yeah, just wander around and explore and level as you go. You'll probably be level 40+ by the time you get back and actually fight him.

edit-
also, should be said you could also just fight him until you win. you might die 50 times but its a viable crash course to getting good at the game. do whatever is fun for you though thats the important thing.

go and explore the world to level up by fighting mini bosses first (Tree Sentinel and Bloodhound Knight Darriwil) then proceed to fight Margit, the Fell Omen

How do I find the mini bosses?
there are tons of caves that can help you level look for fires or lights near rock faces in this game generally if you see light sources it is a marker for like a point of interest so keep an eye out for stuff like that. caves will usually have a boss at the end and can sometimes give you good equipment.
