For normal Greatswords... I don't think theres too much choice. It always comes back to Claymore.
Thank you. I have not gotten the godslayer colossal sword yet, but wiki says it's in Caelid, so it shouldn't be that hard.
Question, does it's special move also imbue it with extra fire damage?
if you slice through it, like the fire ashes of war?
2-hand them to get one of the best movesets in the game.
BKGS scales really well on STR. KGS scales slightly better on DEX. Both are technically Quality affinity weapons. Just use the Iron Whetblade and / or an appropriate Ash of War to change its affinity.
I really like how the BKGS looks, is it worth dual wielding?
Messmer Soldier spear has a nice charged heavy and hits pretty hard...their axe is also quite nice.
As movesets go, I d agree with nfinite.recursion regarding BKGS and KGS. Both very nice GSs.
The Fire Knight Greatsword has an excellent moveset, but it's only found in the DLC.
Putting the Storm Strike AoW on a greatsword (my favorite is the Banished Knight Greatsword for this) is pretty fun, though. Storm Strike is a good ranged AoW that you can refire on the same or different enemies pretty easily with (and costs less FP than the initial cast), and if you use it in melee it's like carving down a tree with a hurricane. Pretty fun.
Storm Strike aside, dual-wielding greatswords (such as the Banished Knight Greatsword) is effective if you get the timing right, but always felt clunky to me.
Oof. That's an excellent one that I completely forgot about - props for mentioning it.
and they look badass and apply the bleed effect too its how i killed the fire giant myself!
That's true. A bit stamina-hungry but nice moveset for a spear.
I dual wield them on a quality build, they kick ass. If you're a strength build, Iron greatsword is best, but they are a pain to farm. If you have the DLC, Greatsword of Solitude is a beast and you can get it right away.
I like the Zweihander a lot for it's range and lunge but isn't it also the weakest colossal sword?
