On Steam, however, you can play across multiple PCs with the same save file due to cloud saving. BUT you need to be careful using it because if you play on one PC and it fails to upload the updated save file to the cloud and you jump over to a different PC, you may lose progress because the other PC is using the older save and then on top of that, the original PC may download the old save from the cloud resulting in you permanently losing progress with no real way to recover it.
So whenever I quit a game on Steam that has cloud saves, I always look at the cloud icon next to the play button. If it shows an error, I click on it to force it to retry uploading the latest save.
BTW, when I say "PC" that applies to SteamDeck as well since it's basically just a Linux PC.
EDIT: I think there was a thread about converting PS4 saves to PC. Can't remember if it required a hacked PS4 or not. Definitely don't know if a PS5 > PC save file conversion method exists. Might be worth googling though.
