Are DLC bosses programmed to ignore spirit ashes
It almost feels pointless to summon spirit ashes for any DLC boss fight since it seems no matter which boss I fight, the bosses aggro never deviates from my character. This is my second playthrough of the DLC and it's just annoying to try and use spirit summons yet still being constantly targeted.

Interesting trick! Thank you for that.

You're welcome. Happy gaming.

At one point I summoned a spirit, can't recall which one, and just ran so the spirit could draw our enemy's attention only for said enemy (think it was Bayle) to abruptly shift attention and kill me when he had been fighting the spirit and I had not attacked once that fight.

There's something going on there for sure. On one hand I get it, spirits aren't supposed to take all the pressure off you but on the other they could have used that time to fix regular enemy AI ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Yeah I don’t need the spirit to do all the work. That wouldn’t be fun either. But just take a few seconds here and there like intended would be great.

What? I literally solved your problem - don't summon spirit ashes.
Yeah that doesn’t solve my problem. I’m wanting my spirit summons to help me and take some aggro while I fight the boss. Your answer literally does nothing and you know it. Go be unhelpful somewhere else.
Then refer to my 1st comment - summon spirit that can actually ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ deal damage to boss so it takes an aggro. Boss aint gonna be hitting something that poses no threat.

Interesting - do you know how to make the mimic tear not do any damage? Because that’s what I’m using and it still doesn’t take aggro.

Mimic Tear works perfectly fine in all the boss fights that I did. They can quickly switch aggro if you go in on them, but the only reason I was able to beat the DLC bosses, was because I had the Mimic there take aggro, allowing me to heal while doing some damage.
I’m using mimic tear as well and im having the opposite experience.

i just recently finished the DLC using mimic and it was incredible easy.
mimic is extremly op even in dlc...

what is likley to happen in your fight is that boss aggroes you
you run away -> boss runs behind you -> mimic runs behind boss....

like 3 guys running away all in same direction x---> y----> z

Yeah, I actually do. Give it lots of useless consumables to spam or summon it with weapon it can't use in this state instead of your main damage dealing one.

Thank god I don’t have any consumables in my equip load.

Well then all you have to solve is weapon problem, so mimic can actually hit boss. My mimic has no problem spamming fireballs and lightning across the whole arena, so I have no problem with boss aggro.

And for you? Take semi-auto crossbow with bleed or rot bolts for mimic.

Spirit ashes have AI scripts screwed. For sure. I've had fights where they stood and looked, ran a bit and then stood again. And the boss was making figure eights around them. It was 100% repeatable. When you add to that the incorrect hitboxes you have a full set. This add-on is a rubbish, I've given up on this programmers garbage for now. Waste of time.

From my own observation, the mimic tear holds aggro just fine. However while using other spirits I regularly see bosses randomly switch aggro back to me, sometimes tracking 180 degrees in the middle of an attack's wind-up to swap target.

It seems like the spirit's aggro level has a timed decay, so any spirit not consistently generating fresh aggro will lose it. So spirits that are too defensive, slow, or evasive will tend to let the boss suddenly switch back to you quite regularly.

Some spirit attacks seem not to generate any aggro now too. For example Tiche's ranged attack, I routinely watch a boss take it in the face then ignore it and continue going after me.

Summon your mimic while wearing Shabriri's Woe. Once summoned, remove Shabriri's Woe and replace it with something else more fitting for you to do battle. The boss will then fixate mainly on your mimic. Granted, you'll have to find an opportunity to do that in the fight, but once you do, you should be able to breathe from there.

And yes, the DLC bosses definitely revert their aggro to the player more quickly than those of the base game. The trick I mentioned above though should bring that to an end.

Go play world of warcraft. You can just mindlessly attack a boss while the tank takes aggro and wont attack you.
