Ok, seriously. How I'm supposed to beat the DLC final boss?
And please, enough of "git gud" bs. Not funny anymore.

This is, by far, the hardest boss I have ever faced on a Fromsoft videogame, and honestly, I'm not having any fun fighting him. It feels extremely unfair. It deals way too much damage, his health pool is ridiculously high, he is super fast and extremely aggressive, and barely has any openings. And his second phase is just absurd.

Seriously guys, how can I beat this mf?

This boss fight is ridiculously bad designed.

Grats. Like I said though, there is no cheese with him. There's what works and what doesn't work. Most things don't work.

Thats bs....

I killed Radahn in 3 tries having 0 idea of what he does using mimic + impenetrable thorns
i obviously cheesed the fight and its no shame in admitting it.

i did a few panic rolls and did a few spell casting from away when he was on mimic
and he was dead fast.
thats cheese because i had to learn 0% of his moves to succeed

there is a difference between making a fight easier aka. "parry" where you still have to activly perform at an okay level to win.
or making a fight laughable easy ( cheese)

You need to totally delete your current build and make something bleed/rott and then kill it after playing the dodge doge roll roll poky poky game; of course the boss will do between 2 and 3 million hp damage so better get your ghost runner game on. This is now "hard" and "good" boss design where it's actually can you perfect dodge me for the next 5 to 10 mins.

LOL.

... you know you got to go and fetch that needle, put some rot and it, pull on your new skirt and build. This they way of really great game :}

Cheesing isn't skill its just reflection of piss poor design choices.

It's not though because he reads the starting imput and knocks you into a near death trap before the mimic tear even forms. It's easier I'm sure but it's not some easy task with the tear

The boss is broken. That's just an objective fact, both from the fact that every working strategy for him has involved some level of abusable "cheese", and the fact that even the "gotten gud" crowd of Fromsoft veterans has been complaining incessantly about him since the DLC launched. Broken bosses do not merit so-called "fair" play. If the only way to down a boss is with cheese, then it's not cheese anymore. It's simply the winning play.

Once the boss is inevitably patched and you actually stand a chance of beating him with regular builds, then we can talk about what is or is not cheese. Until then, we have what works and what doesn't.

If you haven't screwed up the side quests then you can summon Ansbach and Thiollier to help you. So along with the mimic you have three allies. First phase he's weak to Holy damage. Second phase he's weak to Bleed. Second phase he does Holy damage so you need resistance to that, so you need the Golden Braid Talisman. Use the Dragonquest Great Shield Talisman for physical resistance, and use Double Headed Turtle since you need fast Stamina recovery. Use Shard of Alexander to power up your weapon skill. I put Fire affinity on the Fingerprint Shield. If he grabs you in second phase then you are doomed unless you have Miquella's Great Rune. Using it after being grabbed will remove the massive debuff being grabbed puts on you. If you don't have all the stuff listed here then use the wiki to locate it.

Max cheese. The DLC fire golem with pot on its head summon. Then just constant heal him until he solos. EZ MODE.

erdtree seal + 10
healing from afar

fp ~40

take almost 0 dmg.
off u go

the best non cheese option would be learning to parry him.
this takes some practice but makes teh fight + 10 times easier

wait for a patch or bleed cheese.

I contest that there is no cheese with such a boss. There's simply what works and what doesn't.

Common thread to successful runs seem to involve greatshields and poking with some bleed, poison, or scarlet rot weapon. A few people parry-spam. Others summon people with nuke builds to deal with him so they don't have to.

I have not heard of a single person using rolls (even light rolls) or evasion ashes like Quickstep or Bloodhound Step succeeding. You must block or parry or you will be roll-caught to death.

I'm not trying to toot my own horn but it is possible to beat him with only rolls (med roll), I did it on my first play through because I'm way too stubborn for my own good

I used a dex/faith black flame build using god slayer stuff, I ended up just using charged heavy attacks because most of the consistent openings I found had good charged openings

Just cheese him. Most builds capable of killing him are "cheese" in some regard, whether that's insane defense, bleed damage, massive two handed weapon art nukes, ranged magic, hyper-buffed three-shots... imo he's a silly fight and not supposed to be fun for most people, so get him out of the way and get back to enjoying the base game.

Great shield + poke sword. I killed him with 5 heal to spare.

I went into the DLC on NG+7. I was already playing with a fingerprint shield + mogh trident but for this fight I’ve changed for a new, better shield and the only one in the game rot rapier where I added bleed. This kind of builds were so strong since DS1.

if his holy attacks in phase two are doing a lot you can try getting the talisman for holy resist in that shaded village where you get the minor erdtree spell. you'll find the talisman (it's some sort of braid don't remember the actual name though) at the only dead tree around the village. in the center of that tree is a statue holding the item.
