Shard Spiral VS Shattering Crystal

So, Shard Spiral is basically the giant shredder, it does that job REALLY well, but i recently tested Shattering Crystal on Bayle and basically deleted him with it, so i was wondering, would SC be the better option?

I doubt its better at killing giants specifically, but one issue SS has its that it isnt that great on smaller targets, quite bad in fact, but SC is essentially a shotgun, so if close, youll delete the target's face with it, and it can do good dmg on giants as well, only drawback would be that it doesnt have as much range and costs more FP.

So yeah i was wondering what more experienced mages though of this.

I haven't played around with those spells that much but I think I would prefer shard spiral since it is a lot more spamable. Death's Poker is my go to giant killer, give it a try on Bayle or Placidusax.
