Best Way to use Axes?

I want to use Greatazes or Collosal Weapons, but some seem to scale off of Strength and Dex? Should I be leveling up by Strength AND Dex past the stat requirements in order to wield them better, or can I just do Strength?

If you want the big weapons then usually you meet the requirements for dex and then get strength up a lot. Best way to check is to check the weapon scaling, or infuse the weapon. Basically your question doesn't have a simple answer, but for big heavy weapon build you usually take the weapon, infuse it with ash of war to be "heavy", and then get at least 50 Strength. Its important to note that stats above requirements start making sense only at higher levels of weapon upgrades

get yourself a longhaft axe or an executioner's axe, level strength and slap the heavy infusion on them and you're good to go

Just slap a heavy reinforcement on it. Bing bada boom, Str A-S scaling. Easy peasy.
