The main critique I have for this boss fight is how restrictive it is, it truly feels like it restricts players from using most of the stuff in the game, magic? Nice try, Colossal weapons? Get ready to constantly trade blows, Ashes of war that take more than 1 second to use? In your dreams.
Not even Malenia felt this restrictive, and this doesn't play in favour of the game since one of the best things about elden ring is just the diversity of loadouts and builds.
Another issue is just that the 2nd phase feels poorly designed with the amount of stuff on your screen effectively blinding you, and also another thing that I don't see many point out is how much RNG influences the fight. Punish windows in this fight are incredibly inconsistent and dependent on the NEXT move that Radahn chains, this is true for most fights but I feel like Radahn is where this is taken to the extreme, especially considering his insane aggressiveness that doesn't give you room to breathe, if on top of all of this your punish window is negated because he so happens to chain an extremely fast follow up it become a problem, and you could say just skip that move with an uncertain punish window and wait for one with more end lag, but this is not a real solution because then you literally have moments when you are just dodging constantly until the AI finally decides to do that move you were looking for, making the fight EXTREMELY obnoxious.
I wouldn't change the fight that much, maybe I would tone down the particle effects and make Miquella's hair more see-through, and also I would change that 1-2-X combo because it is simply undodgeable.
Have fun respeccing in a greatshield build lmao
Agreed. The only con is that I had to swap a katana for a shield because I couldn't quite get my dodge timings down.
God bless the brass shield.
in general i love the fight, i think its epic
Now with lightspeed clone attacks, and a satellite laser. Perfect for all your piggy-backin' needs. >:3
Stage 2 though... honestly I tried it a couple times then just started doing stage 1 solo and summoning my mimic for stage 2 to be a distraction as there was SO much light I could hardly see anything, and the amount of HUGE damage or mega combos with the difficulty seeing anything was just a pain honestly.
If the AOE was toned down, and they made it so you could actually see when Radahn attacked you I'd like the 2nd stage as well.
As for being that difficult, maybe its just using a 2h strength build but it took me about an hour at Scadu 18 RL150, so I wouldn't even say its the hardest boss in the world, that or the people taking days to beat it just completely refused to use the mimic for that really annoying second stage. And honestly I get that to an extent, but when I know a boss is just annoying rather than fun to learn I am more than happy to use the Mimic to get it over with.
Also for those saying he was restrictive, I dunno about other stuff but I use the Greatsword (colossal guts weapon) and giant hunter to spear him, I had plenty of time to get 1 hit in after his combos, giant hunter was the only one that would SOMETIMES end up a trade, but I felt it was worth it as it wasn't that common and did way more damage and poise.
