What do you think of Consort Radahn?
Every time I search online for information about this boss I read a lot of insults so I'm very curious to know if people hate him that much.:steamhappy:

I honestly feel that the first phase of this boss fight is a true masterpiece, all the attacks understandable and dodgeable, very high damage but correct in my opinion, and in general a true final boss.
As for the second phase... well... it's not exactly the best, every attack becomes a shock wave of holy rays, attacks that seem to have been taken from Dragon Ball with Radahn leaving afterimages, orbital rays from heaven that melt both the screen and the PC... In short, for me it's a dirty second phase, badly designed and exaggerated but this is my opinion, what do you think?

P.S. I just want a comparison with other players even more experienced than me so don't insult thanks!!!:praisesun:

That's just not true, every attack can be dodged rather consistently:

As for the frame drops, go to graphics options, set EFFECTS to LOW, this will fix it 100% (unless your CPU is really old).
Good video, but it doesn't show how to dodge the more infamous attacks with rolls: the 1-2-X combo and the double purple vortex that he does in 2nd phase, which at this point I believe are actually impossible to dodge exept by using very specific items like deflective tear or just give up on dodging them and shield.

The main critique I have for this boss fight is how restrictive it is, it truly feels like it restricts players from using most of the stuff in the game, magic? Nice try, Colossal weapons? Get ready to constantly trade blows, Ashes of war that take more than 1 second to use? In your dreams.

Not even Malenia felt this restrictive, and this doesn't play in favour of the game since one of the best things about elden ring is just the diversity of loadouts and builds.

Another issue is just that the 2nd phase feels poorly designed with the amount of stuff on your screen effectively blinding you, and also another thing that I don't see many point out is how much RNG influences the fight. Punish windows in this fight are incredibly inconsistent and dependent on the NEXT move that Radahn chains, this is true for most fights but I feel like Radahn is where this is taken to the extreme, especially considering his insane aggressiveness that doesn't give you room to breathe, if on top of all of this your punish window is negated because he so happens to chain an extremely fast follow up it become a problem, and you could say just skip that move with an uncertain punish window and wait for one with more end lag, but this is not a real solution because then you literally have moments when you are just dodging constantly until the AI finally decides to do that move you were looking for, making the fight EXTREMELY obnoxious.

I wouldn't change the fight that much, maybe I would tone down the particle effects and make Miquella's hair more see-through, and also I would change that 1-2-X combo because it is simply undodgeable.

badly designed and also pretty lazy with a pretty pointless cutscene as a reward when you finally do beat him

Easy fight ruined by a poorly designed combo

A ♥♥♥♥ fight that nukes most builds by virtue of tiny openings and extreme aggression and also blinds you because we love pretty lights in this house. Also unoptimized for good measure.

Have fun respeccing in a greatshield build lmao

Agreed. The only con is that I had to swap a katana for a shield because I couldn't quite get my dodge timings down.

God bless the brass shield.

Colossals are actually pretty good for this fight, since you don't have time to attack more than once, might as well make it count and do a colossal jump attack.

shield cucks love this fight

If the attacks of the second phase weren't epilepsy inducing it would be in my top 3 FromSoft bosses

Honestly I'm torn as first stage I actually enjoyed, I learnt his moves and could dodge them pretty effectively except for the 2 gravity things which I hated...

Stage 2 though... honestly I tried it a couple times then just started doing stage 1 solo and summoning my mimic for stage 2 to be a distraction as there was SO much light I could hardly see anything, and the amount of HUGE damage or mega combos with the difficulty seeing anything was just a pain honestly.

If the AOE was toned down, and they made it so you could actually see when Radahn attacked you I'd like the 2nd stage as well.

As for being that difficult, maybe its just using a 2h strength build but it took me about an hour at Scadu 18 RL150, so I wouldn't even say its the hardest boss in the world, that or the people taking days to beat it just completely refused to use the mimic for that really annoying second stage. And honestly I get that to an extent, but when I know a boss is just annoying rather than fun to learn I am more than happy to use the Mimic to get it over with.

Also for those saying he was restrictive, I dunno about other stuff but I use the Greatsword (colossal guts weapon) and giant hunter to spear him, I had plenty of time to get 1 hit in after his combos, giant hunter was the only one that would SOMETIMES end up a trade, but I felt it was worth it as it wasn't that common and did way more damage and poise.
