30fps is basically just unacceptable and shouldn't even be a thing anymore. Especially when it's not even stable 30fps, which Tears of the Kingdom is not with it's constant drops.
It just looks way worse for people who are used to higher frames. That's just how it is.
you got like no upside with a ton of downsides (one being that some things dont support your FPS)
Why do folks purchase high-perfomance sports vehicles that are capable of hitting 200 mph+, when there are perhaps two spots in the continental US (the Salt Flats of Utah being one) where they can legally let all the horses under the hood run hard?
Conspicuous consumption of wealth happens in all sectors and interest areas, and the "mine's bigger" instinct translates in some expensive--but transparently obvious--ways.
renders in game engines and are almost always interpolated to higher frames from the original 30 or 24 frames per second, because doing anything higher would take game developers way longer, and crunch is already bad enough for these guys.
You can’t say 30fps shouldn’t exist when you don’t know what your talking about, especially since the accepted basis of fps in the animation industry and game industry is 30 fps, and the goal for games to run is 60. Frame drops suck yes, but I’m not gonna sit here and say it makes the game unplayable.
60 FPS is fine imo but I can't do 30 anymore, it honestly looks choppy. One of the reasons I can't play Bloodborne anymore.
Hello,
Get yourself the ER FPS unlocker, set the maximum fps to 300 fps in the dialog box, enjoy.
You can download the tool from the github developer page, look for the EldenRingFpsUnlockAndMore ver 1.1.0.0.
You MUST play offline when using any ER mods, or you will be banned, the tool is well done and disable the EAC and run in offline mode.
I'm on a 3070 and 10700kf, i have set the game to the max settings, MotionBlur low, disabled RT and dynamic rendering.
The game is really enjoyable on my 144Hz freesync monitor, i get between 70fps and 144fps depending on the location.
The frametime is quite good and the game is really smooth, no stutters while playing.
I couldn't play the game as it originally ships, even if give ER a 10/10, i would have refunded the game, because of the 60fps lock made it impossible to play on my rig.
The gpu doesn't boost as it should, since the gpu doesn't see a real load with the game capped to 60fps.
The gpu instead of boosting to its maximum default 1980Mhz clock, locked at 60fps made the gpu boost at its half speed at 1200Mhz clock, which make the game stutter, provide a awful frametime, a really awful and unplayable experience for a knowledgeable PC gamer.
Fortunately i found the Fps unlocker, but otherwise, i would have happily refunded the game.
As posted in my Performance Roundup, i praise a lot FromSoftware, contract workers and all the people that get involved on this game, from the management to the janitor.
Tho, i DO NOT praise the development and porting of the PC version, it is an insult and an offense to port the best game of the last 5 years, in such way to PC.
Don't bother to listen too much what people say here, most of them are trolls, double account or bots farming for point.
Hope it helps.
Again, playing through Tears of the Kingdom and it's one of the most amazing games I've played in years. The 30 FPS isn't something I'd advertise as a feature or anything, but it's an amazing game and the framerate isn't a huge concern. And I play games up to 120 FPS regularly.
You being fine with a 30fps is not gonna help Johnny with his issue though.
That's not even worth a discussion, really. Some people just can not go back to 30fps.
And that is not me being entitled or anything, that is just simply how it is for some people.
I too find it very hard to play Bloodborne again because of the frames.
So not sure why someone gave me a jester for my previous comment but hey, thanks for the points I guess.
There is an unlock but even a 3080 only gets at most 65fps at med settings so you are not gaining much frames
This is rather misleading, especially without providing any information about the resolution.
Furthermore, uncapped with a 3070 at 1080p Freesync, i have no stutters or any freezes whatsoever, the game is always fluid, so it is not true that everyone get freezes.
Uncapped Max setting without RT enabled, the 3080 alongside a good cpu is capable of:
+250fps at 1080p
+150fps at 1444p
+70fps at 4K
I completely understand users that don't want to dive into settings or research how their computer works.
Users should not need to spent time, as much i did, to get a game running fluid without stutters and freezes, on a decent computer.
That said, claiming that a 3080 cannot output more than 65fps at med settings uncapped, is quite misleading.
