of the two you listed i think bloodhound is better but i've never personally used either of them
also its accessible in the very beginning of the dlc
Even Perfume Bottle scale on dex.
But my fav since the start of the game is the Nagakiba. You can either buff it with incantation or add Ash of War of your choice. Descent range for a katana. On keen enhancement you get a A scale or best choice is on quality enhancement which give you both B on dex and str scale.
A good nagakiba use for bloodloss is with Bloodflame Blade Incantation and Double Slash ash of war. The bloodloss act as a DoT and keep building for a short duration after the hit eith bloodflame blade. You get raw damages from Strenght and Dexterity plus the bloodflame blade that build the bloodloss. You can buff yourself with Flame Grant Me Strenght incantation, it will add damage since Bloodflame Blade is fire based.
Edit Blood loss aside, thought i recommend these anyway.
The backhand blade is also another good one with bleed. It was really good in PvE with swift slash, but with recent changes I've been liking blind spot a lot more. Personally I like them a lot more with keen infusion and then going with greases.
Both these play really well with multi hit talisman's and thorny cracked tear.
That's too many weapons dude
You wrote exactly how I felt playing the game. The nagakiba is truly a goat weapon and S tier in every way and then bloodflame blade enhances it. I used the ash of war maybe called double slash or whatever makes the character spin twice and hit twice in a upward tornado like fashion. It was pretty quick and cheap on fp.
But blood Tax or seppuku is amazing when paired with the varre mask and other talismans and buffs like howl of shabiri. Bloodhound fang is way harder hitting but I just don't love the weapon as much as others do but it's just a preference thing.
Also OP, I'd argue hand of Melania is not that great. I love the look of the ash of war but I don't find it strong at high levels and somber katanas I just think are worse than infused ones.
And keen guardian swordspear, ash of war depends on situation but ice spear is amazing, also use sacred blade (for skeletons and death birds), beast roar (when i want long range), and thunderbolt (for abductor virgins).
