Two handing is a waste of time in PVE
I got really frustrated today i think two handing weapons looks so cool but it is just not worth it unless you are using colossals, i was playing a two handed banished knight sword build last couple of days but the whole time i was thinking "why i am not dual wielding?" powerstance deals double damage the jump attack powerstance has a talisman for it and i think the poise damage from a powerstance jump attack is just a bit smaller than a two handed charged R2 that is gonna do way less damage does not close the distance and is slower and also procs status effects half as fast as powerstance, the 50% strength scaling does like just 70 extra damage at the end game which is pathetic, they need to buff either the damage or posture damage from two handed weapons to make them as viable as dual wield, i know two handed colossals are good but i think that if you dont dual wield everything else you are just nerfing yourself badly, even things like twinblades and katanas are insanely better for dual wielding than two handing.

I fail to see your point. Not every ability is good ALL the time. With certain weapons, skills, and techniques, 2H is very, very strong.

There is really nothing in Elden Ring that is the 'perfect' answer for every single challenge. At least, that has been my experience.

This is a moot point. Two-handing has advantages and disadvantages as anything else does. All you've done is cherry picked some examples where dual-wielding is good.

tell me how 2h is good unless you use colossals.
half damage, does not close distance has a dlc late game talisman, procs bleed and frost slower, the posture damge does not make up for the damage lost.

Some places you need to use two hand strategy for example the Runebears. When you hit their head it is the weakness of an animal and quick stance breaks. However yes you are right in many places you can play as sword/ blunt and shield onehanded way and get far. I have done that on my character still using a shield and uchigatana. Anyways, there are many ways to play when a player decided to respec. Just take your time playing and don't worry about the small stuff. Go have fun and play the game your way.

shield bounce doesn't occur

raises effectiveness of weapon

charged R2s often get extra damage from unique attack values

stagger more often/easier

can still block with lots of weapons to decent effect

drip

half damage, does not close distance has a dlc late game talisman, procs bleed and frost slower, then posture damge does not make up for the damage lost.
I don't recall any of the enemies standing still and letting you just R1 spam

yes that's why people dual wield and jump R2, man i want that drip badly but it comes at the cost of half my damage.

You can block unlike power stancing. It's not 100% physical negation but it's a nice option regardless. Benefits a lot from the new physicks too. Guard counter is still great to have as an option too. But yea, usually the bigger the weapon, the better guard stats it has so not soo great on small weapons.

Also, power stance kinda got a bunch of nerfs like status build up isn't great.

Also the weight being another issue depending on the weapon combo and armor you are going for.

I used a 2 handed greatsword type
weapon like blasphemous in my first run and enjoyed it. Some talisman makes it even better for damage or reduce stamina consumption while blocking.

Oh never occurred to me that you could still guard counter while 2h. interesting

you need less strength to meet requirements while two handing so you can either use it earlier or invest in other things.

Should honestly phrase it as "convince me to stop using katanas" which honestly nobody will do because they're top tier, as they have always been in FS games

skill issue

if you think katanas are better than greatswords in pve you are out of your mind.

Two-handing is usually a sign of full mastery of FromSoft's combat.
Shields are, ultimately, a crutch. They are there to cover you from things that you can't dodge. And if you can dodge it - you should, rather than block, because its the same effect but at less stamina cost. Now, counter-attacks have made shielding a lot better and more useful than it was even up to Dark Souls 3, but two-handing is still the ultimate offensive move.

Even if you're running a Keen Curved Sword of any type with 99 DEX - there is still an advantage to two-handing. Despite what your AR chart says - attacks will still deal notably more damage because FromSoft are quirky like that, but far more importantly - they deal a lot more poise / stance damage ensuring that the victim will stagger and open up for a critical more often.
There's also a whole other variety of things that two-handing improves:
- some weapons tend to attack faster
- improved stance damage
- no bouncing off shields and other hard objects
- activated poise / more poise during attacking, if applicable
- some weapons gain a far superior target tracking when locked on

While i, personally, f*cking love shields for utility and general feeling of safety - two handing is perfectly viable.
I currently run a DEX/INT no-shields character with Great Epe and he's been doing fine so far and its pretty apparent to me that i seem to be doing better when two-handing.
