u still in very early stages of the game but if u really want to try a better sword i would say the Zweihander Greatsword, its great sword and u can get it very early.

I'm still using the lordsworn's in the endgame at +25. You can play and finish the game with virtually any weapon. Pick whichever you like the most, whether visually or for it's moveset. Basically the same for armor, even light armor can stay viable if you boost missing defense with talismans.

My armor progression was :

* Samurai default armor set
* Godrick Knight armor set
* Banished Knight armor set
* Lionel's armor set

I have not found anything generally better than Lionel's. That being said, other pieces of armor grant buffs that are very helpful at specific times and for specific builds.

Good Luck

Upgrading the Lordsworn's Greatsword makes it stay relevant through the entire game (it's even got an unique selling point in its +10% extra damage to finishers/backstabs!) but you might wanna check out the Claymore found in a treasure chest next to the big courtyard in Castle Morne (it's behind some barricades in a room so it's easy to miss). Its default skill is a powerful jumping attack that's fun to use and great for guardbreaking.

Other than that the main way to spice up the Lordsworn's is by giving it a good ash-of-war, Sacred Blade can be found early on (scarab near church north of the Mistwoods) and doubles as a weapon buff and a powerful ranged attack, Glintstone Pebble can be bought from Rogier in Stormveil Castle and while the projectile is kinda bad, the followup lunge attack is basically a free fully charged heavy attack, excellent for closing the distance. Or if you don't like using weapon skills, you could beat the wandering knight on rear Stormhill for the Golden Vow ash (buffs all attack and defense, both for you and any nearby friends) to help stack the odds.
