is it fine to play as vagabond first playthrough?
im just checking if starting w that class builds bad habits rlly (idk they seem op compared to other classes) (also im going for a heavy armor halberd playstyle i think, idk it sounds cool, if there are better classes for that im open to it)

Yeah, it's fine. The class literally starts with a halberd and the heaviest starting armor set.

Class doesn't make a big difference in the long run. Try the vagabond out, if you like the halberd, there are lots of good options. if you don't, there's tons of other stuff.

You get so many runes after the early game that it won't make a difference if you decide to take your character in a different direction

If Vagabond inculcates anything in you, it'll be a tolerance for fat-rolling.

All starting classes are valid, because what you do with them from your first gained RL onward is entirely up to you. All they really do is provide starting gear.

Play whatever looks good to you. Don't worry about what anyone else has to say; they're not playing the game for you.

there is no "wrong" way to play, as others have said.

the only thing you have to consider is what you might want to do going forward, if your plannign on going a little caster, vagabond starts with lower stats in that regard, but if you plan on never touching them, its a non issue, same with all starting classes, but in different ways.

its a good class for starter. also keep raising your vigor till 60. and only increase other stat if you need to wear the weapon you like.

Honestly, Vagabond is one of the classes I recommend for first playthrough. Just make sure to unequip the excess weight so you're not fat rolling.

The trouble with going with heavy armor and heavy weapon from the start is the low survivability of this setup. It is too early to really build a 'Face-Tank' and such a character will be unable to dodge and roll effectively.

My recommendation is Samurai. Really strong starting weapon and skill set. When you get lots of levels, you can just respec and switch over to a Heavy Armor build, should you still want to. But with Samurai, the first 40 to 50 levels will be MUCH easier. ;)

Good Luck
Have Fun

That's not true, there is a wrong way to play, and that's playing in a way that's boring to the player. XP

True, but you can switch your play style if it's ever boring though.

Vagabond and Samurai are the most optimal starting classes for 90% of builds, aka they have the least amount of wasted points.
Akemua Aug 17, 2024 @ 3:28pm
You can completely respec anyway at some point, so it doesn't really matter. I usually go Wretch just cuz the 10 - all stats tickles my brain.

You know you can just take the armor off, right
