In my opinion, that is the Spirit Ash to use all the way through.
I'll add Taylew the Golem, who is definitely that dude - low HP but nearly unkillable if you can heal him.
And also try out Horned Warrior and Divine Bird Oris.
And ofcourse Dung Eater, but to get him you have to go through possible the worst criss-cross of NPC quests ever.
Those others are in the DLC so could be a while.
In that case, Oleg for any kind of standard fights. He is fast, aggressive and does good damage. I used Oleg until I was able to get Tiche. :)
Lhutel will be great for any fight where you don't want him to get hit as much. But that will be very situational.
