Is the Dismounter a good weapon?

Seems to be slow with it's moveset. I'm looking for a good strength weapon. Have already used the claymore. Trying the Zweihander but the swipe back and forth is just carnage and ridiculous (does the job though)

For strength, the omen cleaver id gonna be better. Dismounter is pretty good though, it's got good reach and hyperarmor for days.

If the moveset is too slow for you, grab the Flaming Strike and Double Slash ashes-of-war and slap either of them on it. Flaming Strike is basically an instant combo opener which can be chained into an instant heavy attack (and it buffs your weapon afterwards too), and Double Slash is a 6-hit combo if you do all the followups. Neither is super flashy but they're solid choices specifically to compensate for shortcomings in a weapon's moveset.

I used the Dismounter till I got an Omen Cleaver, then used that till I got the Nagakiba, all with double slash, one of the best ashes for starting out heavies imo.

All the curved greatswords are good now but you have to really learn the spacing and range on the R1 attacks. And get something like flaming strike as mentioned, to create space when you are getting crowded
