DLC new classes?
Is it just new weapons and standalone content? Do we know for certain?

I always felt like the starting classes were a bit on the weak side in terms of diversity logistics. Maybe I am wrong, but I sure would love to be surprised with a new handful of starting classes that let you start a new character as a martial artist or as a Perfume Bottler from the jump, for example.

Do the classes even really matter in this game?
Zogtar Jun 16, 2024 @ 5:46pm
Very unlikely.

They will not change up starting classes, that would be some big surprise.

Not a single Souls Game had additional starting classes when DLC released and it will not change for this game, too, assuming we have not seen it at any given time, including that redbull event we had a few days ago.

TLDR: Technically, yes. Generally, no.

If you are going to be one build for said character, you will pick the class that lets you min max your atts perfectly and not miss out on those few point placements.

If you know you’re gonna respec a ton And try a bunch of builds, you’d want Wretched. You will miss out on a perfect attribute min/max, but only by a few points, but you are forever versatile for that character.

Problem is, some classes get left behind and there isn’t a ton of flavor with them. There are mods that create a bunch of cool ranging classes that would be nice if they were official

Not a single souls game was open world either yet here we are. Not the most valid guess there.

Seeing how classes are merely a way to set your starting stats and gear, I doubt they would add more.

That’s a fair and probably healthy take

After seeing some cool classes that mods inject into the game, I realized it’s one of the few things they kinda slept on though. I get it’s not that important, but it’s an RPG. We are roleplaying after all. There are new weapons we’ve never seen coming.

Stat distribution, can, that is less points in a stat you don't need.

Doesnt that only effect things if you dont plan on levelling past a certain point though?

There's some lore stuff in there for those interested.

Your starting class does not really matter. Any class can become anything they want.

Idk if they'd add new classes, most people go with that Samurai starter anyway. In the end it doesn't matter since you can use whatever you want if you are a high enough level. Unless you trying to min max to be a lower level for pvp or something. If it's easy to get said weapons you can do a "secret starter class" so to speak like that one dude does on their yt channel.

Overall I wouldn't expect a new starter class but if they throw one in it will surprise everyone. But it's mainly just a new area to explore with tons of weapons and bosses to fight to add to the already existing challenge to the game.

Edit: Now that I think of it you gotta kill Mohg and Radahn to get in the dlc so you can't really call it a "starter class". Unless that fall off the map spot still kills Mohg but even then idk.

I think astrologer is the worse starting class in game, it's just very niche and doesn't really out perform anything at meta levels and usually ends up being outclassed by other starting classes even at 80 intelligence.
Sub 10 vigor, endurance and strength with 15 mind is just garbo.
With 60 vigor, bit of endurance investment and any strength investment, multiple classes out perform it in soul levels when it comes to hitting 80 intelligence.

What I'm trying to say is if they add a new starting class, it should be for int casters and not be terrible like the astrologer is.

I’d like to see a good 5 new classes cuz why not honestly. Really no solid reason as to why not with so many new weapons coming.
