Do NPC cooperators open you up to invasion?

I was running around in Crumbling Farum Azula and wanted to pick up all the loot before challenging the Godskin Duo.
I decided to summon Recusant Bernahl to help out mopping up the Banished Knights guarding my loot.

I definitely didn't use a Taunter's Tongue, but my world ended up being invaded by another player.

No. Summoning an NPC does not cause players to invade.

I mean the only NPC invader in Farum Azula doesnt appear until after Godskin Duo, so yea this was a player.

If you have to wonder then chances are you were invaded by a real player. They sometimes name themselves after elden ring characters.

Just set the game to offline to avoid that.

I've been invaded outside Magma Wyrm Makar when I summoned NPCs to get their emotes. I didn't summon anyone real.

It's extremely stupid as the invader just gets sent back when you enter boss fog. If the game were smarter it wouldn't send invaders into worlds like this.
