Should I finish elden ring before starting DLC or can I hop on it as soon as it comes out?

I'm on my first playthrough 70hours in Elden Ring at 110lvl right now and I just beat Morgott on first try I'm too overleved I guess. I'm going to volcano manor and then I want ot beat Mohg and start dlc after it comes out, is it good idea or should I beat game first?

I think it's a good idea. Doing games when they're new is a unique experience. You can always finish the base game later, or switch between them if you get bored with one. Just get past Mogh and Radahn and the DLC will be open for you.

the dlc has a different scaling for difficulty to ensure everyone from around the universe has some sort of challenge. starting a new game is up to you, but you can totally join the dlc at NG as long as you're not like level 300 or w/e

Just complete the game first, you're not that far off after Mogh.

Edit- Also after you complete the game, you DO NOT have to start NG+. My suggestion is complete the game then after just park yourself right in front of the Mogh entrance.

im guessing lvl 150 is the sweet spot to start the new game

Is there a chance the DLC release will somehow break an already started playthrough?

Also Make sure you beat the "right" Mogh, not the one in the sewers

You can do Mogh pretty early if you use Varre's quest-line to get into the Mausoleum area. All it takes is meeting him at the Lakes, do 3 invasions and wet some cloth in Maiden's blood (one is in Lakes area).
