if you want remove frency curse go with millicent questline get the needle and remove it at farum azula.
I for my part im currious if mikaelas needle and the ember shard can be of any use in the dlc
however, to get to Mohg, a lot of people will already have killed her, but it's also pretty easy to use Varre's quest early, so the DLC will at least need to account for her being alive or dead and have both tracks well made. if the Melina=dead track is made well, then Melina=mad can easily be written to just treat her the same way and still give you a good experience even if they don't go all the way and have some satisfying track just for people who got fingered
the chance of Melina=mad causing a problem, then, seems pretty small
Good point. Didn't consider how many have likely burned the Erd Tree in preparation so they will have probably planned for this. I'm still going to cure myself and recommend everyone else with Frenzy does the same in case there's any DLC specific endings but, if there is Melina lore I'm missing out on, I'm just going to hope that saving Melina might have it's own benefits.
