Because it's a MOD.
It's a map. The land was never updated significantly in patches to warrant map updates. And what do you mean "demotivating?" This requires an actual explanation from you.
The game is made the way it is because this is what they wanted to make. The map is wide-open spaces for the most part, so things like a minimap are mostly pointless. Further, you can manually mark visited and completed locations if you wish.
What you're asking for is a convenience feature. I'm generally not against convenience features, but something like this destroys the intended purpose of voluntary exploration and player curiosity. "Modern" games do this to their own detriment.
Also, the devs won't read this. They don't read the Steam forums.

I mean, there's like 1 or 2 guys at FromSoft who can speak some halfway decent English. None of them are community managers or anything like that.
You control a squad of random soldier units, that you can give orders to from the map.
You can pick a destination and the Squad will make their way too it.
Controllable squads, outside of your normal controllable player..
and you can interact with them.
