It borrows core mechanics and some other stuff but the overall gameplay flow is completely different. It's closer to a roguelike in that if you fail or complete the run you go back to start. The world, enemies and bosses you fight also get shuffled. It's also tuned for 3 player coop.
Will it be good or not? I dunno. There aren't any videos of raw gameplay yet. It's definitely different though. WAY different than anything else fromsoft has done before.

wait til the actual comes out first
i say this because it's common among doomposting
and what company doesn't want to make money off their game?
I completely agree with you. However, you must agree that selling the same thing 3 or more times is a bad practice. If I want to fight old mobs, I'll just open, for example, dark souls 3 and that's it. The next step is a remaster of the Elden ring, which will include all the DLCs, at triple the price.
it's not about whether or not companies want to make money off their games, it's about how much effort was put into the game and in Nightreign's case it looks like very minimal effort
that's why people call things cashgrabs
I feel like the roguelike elements will make it require more team work than what a soullike would. I hope it pops off. The only other rogue like game I've played is Risk of Rain 2 and I've never been able to get a good multiplayer match since the first DLC.
People are griping about the online component of Soulsborne since forever, could be that with this game they're taking a good look at potential modifications and improvements.
Attack animations for hollows has been pretty much the same this whole time.
