Assuming hearsay is correct, you should be able to play it solo, so that will keep the game worthwhile to an extent.
I also doubt they're trying to make this fail. Even if they are bought out, they still suffer from a bad product, no?
Besides, my understanding is that they're just letting a dude have a go at his own idea. Assuming that's true, it's respectable. I won't ♥♥♥♥ on a company for letting devs do their thing. I don't want more studio interference.
Unlike Ubisoft letting new hires work on the next major title of an established series like AssCreed: We Wuz Samurai.
Battle royal
Survival elements
Elden Ring setting milked
Asset recycling
No Miyazaki
Not a souls like
Naaaah.. its a hard pass for me..
Now show us the REAL new game.
A. what survival mechanics? I've seen it be used that way but I genuinely don't know what gameplay is being used to support that.
B. Are we really applying battle royale off of the ring mechanic? When I think Battle royale, I think primarily of a large match setting, and the ring mechanic, not as a defining feature of the genre, but as a supporting option for the setting.
I'm not even defending the game, I just think that's a bad definition.
C. Why does Miyazaki have to be involved? Sekiro was a good game and DS2 had development issues that can't be expected to repeat every time Miyazaki isn't there. Especially with the experience the company has gotten.
People, myself included, have every right to worry about Nightreign on that fact alone.
Game looks like Genshin Ring, bro.
The run is 3 in game days long, you gotta survive that. Getting some loot on a way and kill some big boss at the end.
During the night the playable area gets smaller.
Dunno.
♥♥♥♥, you're right about Sekiro.
Still, it's stupid to use that as a reason to hate a game. Miyazaki isn't the one person capable of making a good game. Also consider DS2's development history. They had to change game directors partway through, and I believe the second game director, some one who helped with Elden ring if I'm not mistaken, did a good job fixing the game as much as possible.
Life is full of nuances, and as humans we are capable of looking at these nuances.
Let's not ignore them just so we worship Miyazaki, alright?
That's not a survival game, that's a roguelite.
That's what I meant by ring mechanic. I don't believe that's enough to call it a battle royale, or to even compare it to one beyond the existence of that mechanic.
Personally, I think it's a burnt-out studio, following patterns, without an ounce of creativity. I wish them the best, because I consider DS3 and ER to be outstanding productions, and DS1 as masterclass production that changed the computer games market, but I don't count on much.
