As a new potential new player..
..If one has not been too keen on Dark Souls game, could Elden Ring be a fun game for a newbie like me to play? I like the art style of it and all, but i am second guessing myself that should i drop money on it, if i was never too keen on the Dark Souls games.

And how is the Coop in this game? Is it the same like in Dark Souls that you friend can only join you for one fight or death and then get yeeted out and you guys have to use an item again to play together?

for a newbie this is probably the best fromsoft game you could start with. there is so much exploration that if you get stuck you can go do other stuff or get better stuff and come back later. It's still pretty hard especially if you get the DLC, but i would give it a try. but unfortunately yes co op is the same exact way as older games. On the plus side if your get the seamless co op mod then you can play the game with a buddy just like every other game on the market.

Ah, i see! Thanks for the info about how the game is. I'd hope they'd make the Co-Op a just a bit more easily accessible for the game.

If you have a problem with the co-op, use the Seamless Co-op mod.

Don't forget to backup your save.
Players in multiplayer can corrupt it and you can lose all progress.

Wait what the hell, for real?

OP why don't you watch the first 1-3 hours of a (possibly blind) let's play? The game is huge - you won't spoil yourself much - but you can see what the game is actually about and decide whether you want to try it yourself.

Just avoid anyone who tries to immediately fight the golden rider for two hours... ;-)

Haha, yeah i was worried, if i did exactly as you said and watch and spoil myself, but that's really good to know :D

Vamirez, do you know anything about the thing that, if someone invades my world and is able to reset my game progess stuff? Like is it a huge problem in the game at the moment? I am really worried on spending 80€ to a game like this and play it for hours just for someone resetting my prog randomly.

I always play in the game's offline mode because I find it more immersive and don't care about pvp at all. Maybe someone else can give you some info about those issues.
It plays exactly like Dark Souls.

If you didn't like that, you're not gonna like this.

You can't be invaded unless you do co-op, so if you just do a solo experience and never summon other players, you can't ever be invaded and never have to worry about it.

That said, while it DOES happen to people, the chances of it happening to you are wildly low. So you could probably still summon people to help with bosses and never have to worry about it.

Okay, that's a relief to know. I would not mind getting invaded and shagged to death, but if the possibility for losing progress would have been high due to hacker or whatever causes the corrupt save thing, i would have not proceed to buy this :D

So thank you for the info!
ay tatuzka, i see u bought the game :)

enjoy !

If you don't summon players and don't invade you're safe.
If you regularly backup your save you can restore it if it is corrupted.

Edit:
most reports of hacking, cheating and corrupting saves
are between levels 120 and 180.
