So, eventually, NPC-invasion ruined the game for me
Yes, this is another ivasion-cry.

I'm at a point, where an invasion-gaint spawns, when I fast-travel to a bonfire. I just can't kill that thing, and it will devastate me every time. Since I try to permenenty have the great-rune-buff on (40 levels is just too gotod), the game seems to be ruined for my taste.

This thing two-hits me, even, when I'm miles away... and I don't have the slightest chance as a sorcerer to do anything about it... I can't summon my horse, I can't summon spirits, I can't summon real players and there isn't an NPC-summon available as for the bosses...

Is there any way to prevent that invasion without fighting that thing? I tried to change to offline, but the NPC-invasion happens anyway. The game is realy good, but this so-called "feature" just ruins everything. You literally farm HOURS to get just ONE runebow, just to be NPC-invaded and killed in seconds. Sorry, but I don't consider this to be fun!

And it seems, it only apears, if you're rune-buffed? (I wouldn't mind dying, if I wouldn't be buffed with a great rune. Just reapawn, collect tyour runes and be done with it...)

And if I'm killed, how do I try again? So that I may be get rid of it eventually? This thing kills me, and then vanishes... until next time I fast-travel to a trader or teacher rune-buffed...

Far as I'm aware, you can't prevent npc invasions. If you're struggling, I suggest you get someone to help you kill what it is you're struggling with. Otherwise you'll have to figure out a method that works for you
Which NPC and where?

You can run away from NPC invaders.
If you're talking about the Bell Bearing Hunters...they are some of the most overtuned, stupid enemies in the game. Not worth the fight unless you cheese them somehow.

Well, this might be a solution, then. I'll try to rest till the morning. And when I loose my rune. (which I excpect, when I fight the wolf in the Academy...) then I'll try it without the buff... I have a quite long breath in that regard. The only thing, that annoys me, is, that it always spawns, when I'm freshly rune-buffed...

everywhere, when I fast-travel, it seems. I don't realy know, which NPC: But this thing has a kind of sword attack, with a reach, that goes through the entire map... (at least feeled...)

Thanks, for the offer, but I didn't bother with coop, yet... And I probably can't you summon fast enough, before I get killed by this thing.

But a question: do this white ring work against NPC-invasions? I will try that... But first, I just rest until morning.

Bell Bearing hunters shouldn't appear so often it ruins the experience of the game.

You can find out more about them on - https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Bell+Bearing+Hunter#:~:text=Bell%20Bearing%20Hunter%20only%20spawns,get%20the%20boss%20to%20spawn.

they're a minor annoyance and the most you lose is the time it takes to respawn at the grace they appeared at.

NPCs are incredibly weak to Ashes of War that aren't projectiles.

These are the ones I've had tested against NPCs myself: Spinning Strikes, Spinning Slash, Impaling Thrust, Piercing Fang, Stormcaller, Lion's Claw, Giant's Hunt, Square Off, Unsheathe, Wild Strikes, Double Slash, Repeating Thrust, Sword Dance, Phantom Slash, Flaming Strikes, Waves of Darkness and many more.

I suggest using cheap physical ones so you can spam them more often before running out of FP, like Impaling Thrust, Wild Strikes. Spinning Strikes etc...

npc invasions were hard for me at first.. but they are like any other "boss" that you have to adjust to play against them.

The main tactic to try is to make them whiff(rolling works but whiff is better) and then attack. This is the tactic that will work against all of them. No matter what build you are. Actually this tactic works against ALMOST every enemy in the game. (i'd argue it does not work against maliketh that well)

There are ways that will cheese them but doing the above leads to a better experience as then it does not matter what build you are.

EDIT: My comment about Maliketh is that when you can attack him is different IMO than other bosses. It's the first boss I think where you have to attack when he mid swings and such.

As I said, I wouldn't mind, if they wouldn't apear every time, I'm fresh rune-buffed...

I'm still in the early mid-game (I suppose.) So the great rune of Godrick is a real help. But They're not buyable unlimited. If that would be the case, I also wouldn't mind.

But if you bought the stock from the two-sisters, you're forced to farm them. And I neither have the silver-scarab, yet, nore do I have a significant Arcan-Energy stat... At least not with my sorcerer-character. So, it takes hours, to get just one rune... and THAT is, what runis the experience.

But now, that I know the invasion is happening, I will try the wolf in the academy, next. I killed that beast first try with my Incanation-character. but I don't know how resistand it is to magic. And I just can't beat it in melee... So I certainly expect, that I don't beat it, first-try. And if that is the case, I try the invastion until it is gone, regardles how often I die. And THEN I rune-buff me again.

I also wouldn't mind that hard, if you would get back the buff, if you collect your lost runes... But that's not the case.

Loosing the buff is much more terrible than loosing any amount of runes. But if you expect it, it takes some of that horror. The problem is, that I always get annihilated unexpected and always a minute after I used my last runebow.

So, you're not only loosing the time it take to take back your runs, but also the time it takes to farm the runebow...

I don't realy understand, what you mean with "whiff" (I'm a German guy and "whiff" is tranlated with "Hauch"? "Geruch"?` I don't see a connection with that. Do you mean, I need to get them staggered? Yes, I probably know that. Howver, achieving this, is a way other topic. And as I said, I'm horrible in melee-fights. To let the enemy not hit me is the safest way to not die. And the easies way to not get hit, is to stay at range...

And I even don't know, who Maliketh is...

Edit: just tested it: the Invasion is happening ANY time, not only at night. I don't want to loose my buff, so I alt-f4'rd. Well, I suppose, I continue to play my incanator, then. Because I don't have this problem with her, yet..

Word of advice, you don't need to drill through Rune Arcs as often as you are. Save them for the more difficult sections/bosses. For the general overworld you don't need to use it. If you're concerned about them running out, offer your services as a furled finger. You get them as a reward for helping a host kill a boss. If you're a fairly low level, you can just help people kill morgott or godrick on repeat.

If you're wanting to level up, i have spare runes to drop to help you level up some, depending on your current level of course

There’s no invader that appears due to rune buffing.

I’m not sure if you’re referring to the Bell Bearing Hunter, who appears at a few locations throughout the game if you rest at the grace at night in those locations. Though it should automatically switch to day if you get killed meaning he won’t spawn and you can collect your runes.

Or if you’re talking about Gurranq who becomes hostile at one point after giving him a few death roots. But he is only at one specific location, the Bestial Sanctum in Caelid. And in that case he calms down if you hit him a couple times then talk to him when given the option.

Bell bearing hunters are easy to kill with ranged attacks, rot or poison.

They are vulnerable to piercing so Impaling Thrust Ash of War
on some halberd, greatsword or thrusting sword will work nicely.

Keep in mind one in Caelid, Dragonbarrow is extremely tough
and best not fought until end game.

i kinda sympathize with being vexed by npc invader phantoms, i'm the same way. another human being? no problem. computer-controlled npc pretending to be one? i'm playing checkers while they're playing chess.
