Best of the Transformation builds?

To anyone that's made them, which transofrmation (dragon priest/dragon communion) build has the best progression potential and end state? I know that the Dragon Priest lightning build doesn't have much going for it early/mid game, so it might be a slog. Dragon communion build seems stacked with options just pumping arcane. Reduvia and all Dragon incants.

is this for PvE or PvP? personally i really like the dragon cult miracles mainly because Knight's Lightning Spear is a thing, but also just enjoy the playstyle more. the priestess heart and her mace also substantially boost the ouput for them.

Yeah, it looks super fun, but doesn't come online until way late in the game. How would I progress the early/mid game with a lightning build? Any weapons I could look out for to ease the journey?
