is the Shadow of the erdtree dlc good?
I have a little bit over 140hrs of elden ring and i’m having so much fun.

how is the dlc? like from 1/10

its just a bit pricy, it would take me about 6months to save up for it, so i’m looking for the steam community’s opinion on how it is! :goldentoilet:

Its very solid content overall but if it's a bigger financial purchase, I'd also recommend looking for the best time to get it, such as during a sale. 6 months is a long time to save and it's important to try to get your monies worth now more than ever, so keep an eye out for the steam summer sale and snag yourself a discount.

it's a challenge. use the upgrade system, don't ignore it.

Ok. Short version, I'd give it a 8.5/10.

Longer: some of the lore from the DLC... irritates me in how certain characters' motivations are shown.

However, the scenery and landscape is excellent, with a verticality I did not expect but very much enjoyed. The enemies will definitely encourage you to hone your skills, and quite a few of the items offered are excellent and well worth experimentation. I would suggest saving up to get it, if you personally enjoyed the Elden Ring main game experience overall.

It depends on your build.
You can parry multiple main bosses to death, most minor bosses, and most non-boss enemies.
Brick Hammer + Lion's Claw deletes enemies that people regularly complain about. Any form of stagger + stance break should work in that sense.
None of the primary enemies are immune to all status effects like the Elden Beast.
The difficulty outside of the final boss is greatly exaggerated.
The DLC kind of doubles down on the worst parts of Elden Ring, spazzy bosses that deal too much damages and leave barely any openings, empty af maps with barely anything to discover etc, the reviews are still mixed for a reason. If you didn't mind the last few areas of the base game, then it's more of that.

I wouldn't say it's worth the price at all but it does have some good content in it.

I'd say it's like a 7/10. Still too many locations that don't feel rewarding enough and some of the bosses aren't great. The scadu fragments system is also meh

Divine Dancing Beast Lion Thing - I don't like it, but it could be worse.
Rellana - Fun to parry, but she has 2-3 attacks that come out way too fast.
Putrid Knight - Trash boss, but squishy.
Scadutree Avatar - Better than the Dancing Beast, easier than Rellana, but not my favorite. Her weapons are strong against this boss, which is neat.
Commander Gaius - Another boss that you can easily poise break to death with Lion's Claw. Even on medium roll you can avoid his charge by dodging to your right, his left.
Midra - I one-shot him the only time I fought him so no comment other than he seems really exploitable.
Metyr - On the weaker side aside from one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ability in Phase 2.
Romina - Has an easy parry to exploit and terrible melee hitboxes that are easy to dodge. One of the weaker bosses.
Messmer - Difficult, but fair.
PRC - He's hard, but I'm not sure he's harder than Malenia. He's definitely easier to parry for me.
Bayle - Haven't fought, not a fan of dragons. I skipped Midir in DS3 as well.

Golden Hippo - Trash. Just cheese it and move on with your life. Somehow it took more effort to kill than Commander Gaius on this current playthrough.

Minor Bosses - You can parry a lot of them and the timings are forgiving, especially compared to Rellana's quick stab and uppercut. A lot of them can't be stance broken as far as I can tell, but you can stagger lock them to death.

TLDR - PRC and maybe Bayle are the only fights that are exceptionally hard.
The DLC is brutally hard if you beeline for its main quest. Take the time to explore, turn every stone you can... Even finding like half of the scadu frags makes the DLC's end quite less punishing.

Now is it good? Oh yes. It's like two thirds of the base game filled entirely with enemies at Leyndell level and higher (especially higher), with areas that do their damnedest to recapture that feeling of wow upon entering Limgrave for the first time. If you enjoyed clearing Farum Azula, or the Haligtree, then the DLC is going to feel great.

Also the remembrance bosses want you dead really badly.
(parry the final boss to death)

Thanks for this, i’m pretty sure the DLC does not do a sale. I only bought elden ring recently because of a previous sale too!

This is interesting, thanks! I beat elden ring like 15 times already and memorized all of the quests already.

that’s why i’m looking to save up and buy the dlc for new content/bosses to have fun with
