Gotta play offline?(new player)
Gonna try this game today or tomorrow on steam deck.
Im pretty bad at souls like games,i just rush in and spam my sword.
So im gonna need help with few bosses and wanna call my friend for that given he 1 hit kills all of the bosses no problem.

But i see some saying hackers invade your world and delete everything.
Is that true even when playing on the deck?
Should i really just play in offline mode?

I don't know about Steam Deck but if it is possible to copy save
to another location for backup purposes you should be fine.

You just copy save back if you're hacked.
Without backup save I would not recommend anyone to play online.

I dont see the point to be honest. Isnt it more fun to slowly improve , you as a player and your character, to defeat the bosses? Game already have plenty mechanics to help defeat them.

What they do is, corrupting your savefile. So the savefile, is probably gone. Unless there is a way to revert it and I am not aware, but as far as I could see from other people posting, there isnt.

Yes ONLY if you, like myself, also want to avoid seeing bloodstains and messages in your world/journey. Otherwise, no need to play offline at all if your only goal is to avoid hackers. They can only invade your world if you are playing co-op with someone else. If you are alone, they wont invade you. So you are free to explore playing online and checking bloodstains and messages from other players. In any case, always backup your savefile.

I have little patience. If i die to a boss 5 times, im gonna need the help or il just rage quit and delete the game.
So yeah gonna need my friend for this because i dont see myself finishing this game solo.

On a good note - there's a mechanic for people like you: Ashen Spirits. Basically NPC cooperators. Ranging from humble dogs and rats and ending with legendary knights and assassins. Don't even buff the boss like actual cooperators do. But some bosses do not allow them, so...
The safest way to play with friends is seamless coop with invasions turned off

I shudder to think what the installation process for steam deck looks like.

Yeah i already checked all guide and best items videos on youtube.
But i wouldnt bet on npc allies winning with me.
Theres other souls like game called code vein. Through whole game they give you a companion to choose who are pretty decent to help out. I still lost few times with them too... So yeah

ER's ashes are much more stronger than Code Vein's allies (even though I haven't finished Code Vein I know what I'm saying).

Anyway, in the base game AoW are really strong as baits. If you are enough a***ole you can have them tanking the boss and spamming swarm of flies to have an easy win

Will remember this,thanks.
Hopefully works for all bosses such as malenia. I know how much ptsd she gives to all players. Shes optional boss but i still wanna clear everything in the game as i always do

Doesn't work for all. But for Malenia I can tell you that spamming Tornado of Black Flame against her works awesome.

ps. I wanted to say "Spirit Ashes are really strong as baits", not AoW. I just confused the names

You can have two chances to get the Black Flame Tornado AoW: early game from the Godskin boss in the mills village (optional) and late game in farum azula from the godskin duo (which is not optional)

If you really rage quit after dying 5 times this game is not for you. You are going to die a lot more _before_ you reach the first boss (not counting the mini boss at the end of the tutorial). However if you are willing to learn the game mechanics and practice enough to improve in combat you are likely going to put hundreds of hours into this game. And die a lot. You could start with the "get a very strong build in 30 minutes" video on Youtube but you have to learn the game mechanics even after you complete that guide. Otherwise you are going to die.
OP just play with Seamless Co-op installed. You and your friend can play together (with a better co-op experience than vanilla) and without the concern of invasions and hackers.
