Unable to progress through Ranni questline

Note: Quest line spoilers ahead

So, I did Seluvis's quest line. Gave the potion to Gideon, got the amber starlight shard, and betrayed Ranni. I then absolved my sins at a church of vows. Now whenever I try talking to Ranni I just get "..." and I'm not sure if I was doing anything wrong. I could not find Blaidd in the Siofra River region (even though I beat Radahn). Any ideas if the quest line is even possible anymore? I tried looking but every thread I found had conflicting answers.

You wont find Blaidd there if you did all that stuff. He is probably trapped in the Gaol where you helped him fight his nemesis. Talk to Iji the giant about it. Go through the underground until you get the fingerlsayer blade and give it to Ranni. That should get you moving.

ah ok, I can give that a shot. Thanks! I also did complete the gaol, I remember seeing him there.

It is not just 'complete the gaol'. You have to enter the gaol, have Blaidd help you in the fight, and then talk to him outside the Gaol. That is what triggers him to move to the river location. I screwed that up on a play through; did the fight without him. Did not find a way to recover. :(

But, there may be a way to recover. I did not know as much about the game then. :/

Might go back to Goal and see if he is still standing outside it. That did not work in my case as progressing seemed to cause him to just vanish. Could not find him anywhere and he never showed up at the big meeting at the bottom of Ranni's tower.

Had to bin that run and start again. Which was ok as it allowed me to do a bunch of other stuff properly as well. After that little fiasco, I used a Main Quest Story guide to be sure I did not miss anything. :)

If these steps were not done before kIlling Radahn, this is the outcome for Blaidd:
- he won't be be at the Mistwood Ruins
- his summon sign will not be at the Forlorn Hound Evergaol
- he won't be at Ranni's Rise if you decide to enter her service
- he won't be at Siofra River Bank
- he will be at Ranni's Rise (hostile) after completing Ranni's quest

He drops his sword and armor if killed at Ranni's Rise. So, the only thing missable is the 'Finger snap' gesture

Regarding Ranni's quest, she will have new dialogue after you give her the Fingerslayer Blade
Ahh...It was thee.
Not Blaidd, it seemeth.

Alright I figured things out. I just had to look underground for the fingerslayer blade and give it to Ranni. Thanks for the help!

Awesome news! Wish I had known this on my play through troubles. Very nice indeed! :)
