So what this game did since launch that deserved labor of love ? Got a paid dlc ? No Man's Sky give us every 3-4 months a major update since launch. If a game deserves an award like this, that's a game that gives you regularly a massive update in a long term just like NMS.

I was wondering the same thing, they released one expansion. Just shows the Steam awards are largely meaningless. I mean I think Wukong probably should get some awards, and I'm sure sheer numbers of Chinese steam users voting is what does it, but its hilarious that some of the only games not on sale (Erdtree, Wukong) won awards.

No Man's Sky literally was very-very unfinished on release, that's it. They do many patches and updates, so now it's game really great, but that would be pretty bad for them if they do same ♥♥♥♥ as many AAA game developers today, releasing garbage and barely support game with content in year, maybe two. Without negative, I can understand your disappointment, but for me personally if game update/DLC give an awesome expereince, emotions, many new builds and so on, it's really worth to win. That's doesn't mean that other developers don't love their games and gamers, don't support them. Anyway, main reason to play games is enjoing GAMES, I know some awards and discussions are interesting, but better play game which makes you happy.

Fromsoftware fans display cult like tendencies to defend and praise anything they produce. It's really sad because souls like games as a genre are trash, which should tell you that the genre is trash. BG3 by Larian is a far superior game but lost out the award. It goes to show you that common sense does not prevail and Fromsoftware fanboys are so far gone they're not worth saving at this point.

People just don't read anything is pretty much all there is to it. It's the same with clickbait headlines on Facebook that imply something, but the article ends up being about something else: the vast majority of comments will just be about the headline and not the actual content, because they don't click the links and they don't read.

The vast majority of people just saw "labour of love" and went "I think FromSoft do pour their heart into their games, they deserve that one". And completely miss the whole "over the years" thing.

Long story short: these awards mean nothing.
