This. If your character looks soaked in the stuff, you'll get buildup for several seconds after hitting dry land.
Some of the land looks 'dry' but is not. I dealt with it by having a good supply of Boluses. There are also Talismans, Food, and Spells that help with it.

You're being told to look carefully at your character; if they have grime on them, the game interprets that as buildup of whatever it thinks is on you.
Kindly do not assume illiteracy where "it's possible you weren't aware of this" was the intent.
No I was not told anything. I was asked by 2 people if I rolled in it when the first thing I said was I know not to roll in it.
I'm the "second person" in the thread. Having a hard time seeing where I said you rolled in it.
You quoted the 1st post and said this. The first post asks did you roll in it.
