are axes better than greatswords?
so i am a huuge fan of ds, i have allways been a huge fan of greatswords, but starting in ds2 and 3 i gravitated towards axes and a barbarian berserker strength build, wich means i went from strength knigth, to strngth monkey, and so far fo whatever reason i have fallen in love with axes, something about them tickles my gooch, i tried going back to zweihander and greatswords, but they seem slower and less fun to use than axes, my great axe is fast great moveset and destroys every enemy, but zwenhander and the great swords are slow, have inferior movesets and i cant vibe with them, am i doing something wrong i miss being a knigth.

Large axes are greatswords with focused DPS: they lack those wide swings for easy crowd control and instead focus their attacks in a short, relatively narrow hitbox in front.
Basically: they are shotguns of the melee weapons. While they will generally deal more focused damage to a single target - greatswords still win on ability to cover a lot more area with their attacks, striking perfect balance between DPS and crowd control.

Axes are generally faster, have a shorter range, and a less cleave-type moveset. People mainly love Gswords for cleaving and roll/jump attacks, which their length makes them excel at. Nothing wrong with axes, except they dont tend to have very good ashes of war.
