I loved angry goblin pack.
Also, not starter ashes, Mausoleum
Soldiers.
exact name of ashes.
They work great on casters especially Rennala, never leave home without 'em
Also funny you mentionned Warhawk, since my second overall fav summon is Stormhawk Deenh. I have a lot of affection for unique/plot ashes like Aurelia aka Spirit Jellyfish and Latenna.
But recently i've looked for more variety while levelling some characters, while Stormhawk/Tricia make excellent support, they sadly don't pair well with Faith chars since their buffs override Golden Vow, so i have my STR/FAI char using Blackflame Monk Amon or Redmane Knight Ogha. Extremely solid, but not busted.
On my recent DEX/INT mage, i wanted to have some "roleplay bodyguards" summons, so any ashe with 2 entities, like Soldiers of Godrick, a lot of them are decent, but Fanged Imps works very well, nimble, can bleed and even throw occasional magic grenades.
For testing summons i recommend the Impassable Greatbridge site of grace, it's the most southern point in Caelid, right before Redmane castle.
You can advance near the molten wall to trigger the alarm, go around from the cliff on the side, then summon while Redmane soldiers are busy fighting giant dogs.
That's usually a nice trial for summons because enemies here have a bit of everything, big poise moves, a few ranged attacks, some quick reposition or charges, numerical superiority without being overwhelming, etc..
