Error: DLC is not installed (but I am in the base game)
I was sharing steam account (family sharing with different steam accounts) with my husband to play elden ring. However, it didn't let us play simultaneously. So, after some point, I bought the game as well to play simultaneously but I am not interested in the DLC. I was still in the Limgrave and didn't interact with any of the DLC stuff yet. I get an error message saying that DLC is not installed whenever I try to load my character. Do I have to lose all my progress?

Yes, unless you buy the DLC.

Base game + DLC saves are different from base game only saves. However, a save converter may exist out there on the internet. Try Google.

From the Seamless Coop information on Nexus:

"You and your party members must be running the same version of the mod and the game to play with each other."

If you are not running with the DLC and your friend is, then you are NOT running the same version of the game.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I didn't mean to play with him as coop. When you share (link) accounts as family, both people keep their own steam accounts and you can play games from each others libraries without purchasing the game as long as 1 of the accounts got it. Nonetheless, it doesn't allow simulataneous playing. So, if I join my own saved game then my husband wouldn't be able to play at all (without coop as well). After some time (until lvl 27 with only margitt is defeated), I decided that I liked the game so I bought it to figure out that I can't play anymore unless I buy the DLC as well. Or I have to start from 0.

correct, a DLC can not be shared alone if you got the game now you would need also the dlc to be able to play your char, which got upgrade to aa DLC char by the share of library.
