Horrible performance issues after upgrading gpu
I recently upgraded to a new rig with a 5080 and Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 9 285K, 3700 Mhz, 24 Core(s), 24 Logical Processor(s) with 64gb of ram. Never had any fps issues previously and now I can barely get 40 in Shadow of erd and 45-50 base game and even within those ranges there are constant dips and peaks. And dropping resolution or tweaking the settings may give me a few fps here and there but I'm still not hitting any consistent frame rates or even the 60 fps I was getting prior to the upgrade.

Anyone have any ideas for a remedy? It sucsk because I wanted to warm up for Nightreign by playing through the expansion more and now it's pretty much unplayable for me.

I notice the FPS drops too, particularly in areas of the DLC, where there are waterfalls and mist. The same happened to me in the Consecrated Snowfield, where you come up against one of the Wandering Mausoleums that shoots fireworks/mortars... the particle effects are... a bit much.

In any case, the way i understand it, the game is CPU-bound, rather than GPU-bound, and does not leverage multiple cores as well as other games by other companies. I'm no programmer, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Not much you can do, really, except for maybe installing a mod that removes the 60fps limit.
The trade-off though (of course), is that you can't use mods if you want to play online with other players who don't use mods (its a bannable offense... if not right away, eventually the powers that be will catch on).
Since this is a new build, I assume you have a fresh OS install with the newest drivers? If not, you should use DDU to wipe out the old remnants of the old drivers.

Also worth looking into is disabling your CPU's E-cores. Usually they don't cause problems but sometimes Windows just feels like treating them like regular cores and you end up in a situation where the much more powerful P-cores and waiting around for the E-cores to actually finish their work, resulting in stutters.
the security patch they used too fix Intel CPUs ruined it performance. somehow it's kinda why everyone wants Intel too just shut up. and give there foundry too nvidia or google
