Names are not that one thing.
Neither is getting his work out anywhere near on a timely schedule, but Rothfuss has him solidly beat there.
Artist guy: Hey, I got those sketches done of the NPC's and bosses you asked me for.
Boss: Excellent, let me see those!
Artist: So, why are these all women, anyways?
Boss: I had some other guy do the male characters already. He was... unsuitable for these. A bit flamboyant...
Artist: Hmmm, ok. Well, what are their names?
Boss: *staring intently at the sketches, with sunglasses on and his hand on his grinning chin for some reason* MMMmmmmmm....mwhat? Oh Uhhh... mmmm...Malenia! And...Melina?... Wait, why is this one flat? I specifically said big boo... no, wait, we can name this one... Miquella! And she is now a guy for diversity. Next?
It's because the symbol 'Ma' in kanji, or something.. i forget the whole thing.
But it's suppose to link their family to divinity.
Same with the symbol for 'Ra'
IT'S BOTH JUST LIKE IT'S MOM-DADDY!!!
Look, I know my (earned) reputation here, but genuinely: the lore indicates that Miquella is cursed with eternal youth. Young dudes--especially those with long hair--can often be indistinguishable from young women at first glance. Puberty is what really begins phenotypic differentiation in a serious, obviously noticeable way.
So why the debate over Miquella? He's a dude who looks feminine because his body isn't aging past the point where many human beings are functionally androgynous from a distance.
I feel like this shouldn't be a thing.
Truth.
I suspect there are also some "alpha" bros who had some feels down below when they saw Miquella, and cannot cope with the reality that dude's a dude because their fragile sense of masculinity is predicated on being able to identify "doable" women from miles away.
On my very first playthrough, I also noticed that some letters are over-represented, and to provide some perspective, let me offer the following list of names (off the top of my head):
G as in
Godfrey, Godrick, Gurranq, Gostoc, Gideon, Gowry,
M as in
Melina, Malenia, Miquella, Marika, Margit, Morgott, Mohg, Malekith, Millicent,
R as in
Radagon, Radahn, Ranni, Rennala, Rellana, Roderika, Rya, Rykard,
The English alphabet has 26 letters and while Fromsoftware does use all of them (with the possible exception of X), I think you'll agree that the 3 letters listed above are used very frequently indeed.
You'll also notice that these letters are G, R, and M - as in GRR Martin.
Coincidence? I think NOT.
========
This is of course a totally absurd observation and it has no relevance to the game itself, but I freely admit that it has been on my mind ever since I first played ER.
Nobody's projecting, bruh. The in-game lore very clearly states Miquella is a dude. It also states he's cursed with eternal youth, which is where the "groomer" memes concerning Mogh came from prior to the DLC (when the meme culture suddenly shifted to "Mogh did nothing wrong," stepping all over the creep-factor pedal).
He's an adolescent. Pre-pubescent dudes are often indistinguishable from pre-pubescent girls at first glance assuming hair styles and clothing are static.
Continuously insisting Miquella is a woman is the projection--of a need to have internalized homophobia/transphobia validated by other ostensibly "alpha" bros who hate that their bits got tingly over a fictional character who has a dangler. The fragility is hilarious.
As is your facile attempt at sophistry-laden gaslighting. Maybe get back to Twitter, where the illiterrati will cheer your gradeschool efforts at "common sense" rhetoric.
