Lesser Red Wolf in Consecrated Snowfield !!!!
OK, up until this absolute jacked up wolf I was completely against cheesing anything. But what in the world does this thing eat for breakfast?! I tried (aka died) about 50+ times at LVL 176. Tried the Beast-Repellent Torch Strategy, tried taking out all his buddies first, tried to snipe him from on a mountain until he learn how to climb, tried torrent battle (worst idea), tried to sleep, poison, rot, and everything - that is... when I could actually land a hit, ran a med build with 81 pose. Nothing, just melts me every time.

The single only thing I could do to beat this absolutely rabid nightmare dog was to let him spawn (summon, whatever), land two hits so he'll stay on me, hug the cliff to the North and when he does his jump in attack, I leaped to my victorious death - and just as I was pronounced dead by the From Soft psychos that made this darned thing... boop he jumps off the cliff never to be heard from again.

Don't have to worry about picking up my runes because they were gone like 50 something fights with this thing ago, but if you had some you can easily trek back and pick them up from the cliff side.

The screenshot (link below) is the path I followed - starting from the Consecrated Snowfield Catacombs. Once you hit marker three, head to where my map cursor is, wack him with something, dodge everything you can and make for marker four and wait. Healing between glintstone hits or whatever this hellspawn throws at you.

Look I'm not proud of it - but this thing is by far the hardest thing to beat. I do not mourn it in the least. If it helps, cool, if you actually beat this thing fair and square you are a better human than I.

Cheers!

It doesn't have a lot of health, it shouldn't be that much of a problem. What level is your weapon?

Oh, I'm just sulking in my own disappointment in this thing and can't let it go lmao

I generally hack with a +10 bloodhounds fang (I'm a fan of the ash), but I tried a dozen combos of weapons and ashes, even respec'd at one point (I kid you not, fought this thing at least 50 times, I completely lost track). Fextra says that one specific lesser wolf in CS has three times the hp as the boss from Raya. But i'm not sure, and not using that as an excuse, I just know it whooped me. I'll beat him fair in NG+ to redeem myself.

The third place (#1 being falling lol) dying stats just became that horsed knight before Maliketh tonight, but I figured out he didn't like poison and stayed on his shield side and he went down after death number eight. I'll save Maliketh for this week, hear he's a fun one!

Red wolves have an especially annoying moveset and AI (they jump around everywhere when at low health), you really have to punish it when it's safe. Bloodhound fang is great at punishing with its ash of war, if you can use the incantation Bloodflame Blade on the sword, it will nicely boost your overall damage.
The draconic sentinels are pretty tough, again incantations can help a lot. Maliketh can melt your health bar in seconds so at least it should go fast. You should go look for Malenia though
The torch should keep the rest of the pack (the standard wolves) off you, allowing you to focus on the mini-boss. It works like that in Caria Manor.

My solution is just to wear the torch, dodge the red wolf, and beeline for the waygate to get across the ravine.
Red Wolfs are secretly most cancer mobs in the game, even worse than runebears (who you can cheese with sleep). They are fast, they are twitchy, they always run away and they drop NOTHING of value.

Infect it with poison and rot and watch the stupid dog fly around, or - even better - just ignore it. Not a fun fight in the slightest.

"Annoying" is being generous for that one haha. Maliketh went easier once I realized you have to let him finish spazing out and then be patient for your hits. Malenia... I'm going to say something that may bring out the trolls but - I didn't see the hype, I'm not saying she was easy but I staggered her and just kept punishing. She got off some good hits, I'm not saying it was cake, but it def wasn't the hardest fight for me (I mean the entire experience of the enemies in this game are personalized, hell those damned jade goblins make me want to go full Kyle and punch a wall lmao).

Going back for Placidusax tomorrow... on my first go he did this aerial attack and my dumb self froze right in it and he melted a 95% FULL health bar. I honestly just started laughing and grabbed a beer.

Wait until you find the great rune bear just down the road from him.
