DS3 imo. I loved the DLC, but an entire game or a DLC? Easy choice.

I mean if you really want to play a different game ds3 is the easy choice, but if you want more elden ring go for the dlc it's worth it

If you liked ER base game go for DLC.
ER dlc is as big as ds3

IMO DS3 if you don't mind it being linear instead of open world, DLC when they finally put it on sale. It might be a nice change as well of you have been playing ER lately. I believe you can both for cheaper on legitimate or gray key sites though btw
elden ring dlc. dark souls is dead horse by now, time has passed its time to move to new things

ER dlc is $40 and DS3 with dlc is $43. Obviously DS3 will be more bang for your buck.

Yes.
DS3 is actually fun

DS3 is a much different experience than ER. Much less forgiving. Not as much an 'open world' as is ER.

I would certainly wait for a $20 sale on DS3; don't pay full price for such an old game.

That being said, I don't think the DLC is worth the $40 asking price. But, it is what it is. If you liked ER, it is very much more of the same, but harder. Enemies are more difficult, exploration is more difficult, etc.

Note that the gear in the DLC is not better than what you can get in the main game. But you do get the Scadutree Fragments to buff up your and your summon's damage and defense. Quite significantly.

The DLC is also much, much smaller than the main ER game. Don't be fooled on that point.

So, whatever is going to please you the most is the thing to do. :)
I'd scoop up DS 3 while it's on sale. Shadow of the Erd Tree will probably go on sale for the Spring sale, so I'd wait for that on the DLC. If it doesn't, you haven't missed out on anything.
You completed everything Elden Ring main game has to offer, finish what you started with the expansion and dont overthink it! You will get more Elden Ring quality content and new "toys"!
thanks for all the replies

Even at that Dark Souls 3 is MUCH easier than Elden Ring for a long trek of the journey

It's a bit funny how ER is praised for being accessible with the open world but is much harder than the Dark Souls trilogy at base are.

For OP though definitely would go with Dark Souls 3 just as a gateway drug to all the other Fromsouls.
