Is there a way to roll back a save?
I wanted to challenge myself to no hit Malenia using every weapon type. I tried to copy my save folder before killing her, but when I did on one of my practice runs and swapped in the copied save she was still dead. The way I did it was just deleting the files for my saves and changing the copies to take their place. Did I do it wrong or is it just not possible?

That's a cool challenge!

You're going to need a mod or an NG to get her alive again.

There’s no way to just use copying save folders?
Turn off Steam Cloud.

Most likely what happened was Steam Cloud saw the old save and overwrote it with the newer save in the cloud.

This. If you turn off cloud saves (or just your wifi honestly) temporarily and do the switch again it should work. Unless you moved the backup files instead of copying them, in which case... NG+ is your best bet. :ebfbush:

That actually makes sense. I’ll try that.

Ahhh... I was about to say you could do it, but I was thinking about Dark Souls 3, which didn't have a cloud save. I bet that would mess with trying to create a save point, like before a boss.

To the OP, like nfinite said, I think there might be a way to turn off cloud saves for the game, I'm pretty sure I've seen that somewhere, maybe a quick Google search might help with that. Good luck on you challenge goals.

Unfortunately turning off steam cloud for Elden Ring did not work. I just tested it on a lesser boss. Rip beastman of farum azula.
It should work just like any backup save I would think. Don't they take you back to where you made it?. I've never used a backup on Elden Ring, though I do have one that's like 3 years old lol. I'd be scared to use it now.
I figured it out. You have to copy the save files into a completely different folder or else it won’t work. Then you can drag them back into the main folder when you want to revert back. Make sure to select to replace the files. Now I go back to collecting two of every base game weapon type.

Oh dang man you were using the same folder? Sorry but that's funny.

Yeah, just make a folder on your desktop and label it "ER backup". That way you can swap them in and out easily. Thanks for updating your thread though. Have a good one.

Also, post your run here if you ever finish it. GL.

Ouch. That would do it.
