How do I start Shadow of the Erdtree?
I bought the expansion and it was installed, but I cannot see it anywhere. Do I have to finish the main game first?

I found out why. I find it really ridiculous that it is not a stand alone expansion. For the price, that would be the least to expect.

this is how all fromsoft expansions work, they are all optional content you enter through an action (usually described in the store page or promo material) during a play through. Its been this way for like 15 years now so it would be more ridiculous for them to buck that trend tbh.

Problem is, I haven't been following them for 15 years, nor should I be expected to.

Can probably refund it if you don't want to play to it. Do be aware that you could not just 'jump in' and play the expansion. It is much more difficult than the base game in every respect. Minimum recommended level is 150, well geared, and skilled.

Good Luck

I didn't buy it from Steam and I don't think it is refundable. For the rest, I will simply write it off. I never finished the main game, so why bother?
Yeah the DLC follows on and builds its story from main events that will happen in the base game.

Oh ok how far did you get? Did you meet Mohg and Radahn?

Well, if you never finished the main game, did you at least kill Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood? That's all you really need to do to access it.

I did. But I really did not enjoy any of the boss fights. I find them too difficult. As far as I am concerned, the game would be better off without them. I realize my opinion is rather strange.

Youre gonna absolutely hate the DLC then.

Wich is correct, there is no change in the main title or anything.....

I understand you had no previous experience with Miyazaki creations.....Other than that i cant rationalize your logic.....Other than killing Radhan and Mogh to touch the Empyrean cocoon the expansion adds a completly and independent new area....

And now.....

Yeah.....The dude that without even killing Margit used cheat engine for his first Elden Ring "rodeo".

Welcome back, OP and thanks for another gem!

The DLC is the best level design I've ever seen in my entire life, these games are not for you though

Ah Fineous, you have still not learned to read? Who writes your posts?
I never cheated in Elden Ring, because I never used the cheat program to play. Only to understand how the game works. For that it was enough to investigate the first 5 minutes of the game. I almost finished the game, except for the last boss, without the cheat program. Where would be the fun in this? But then, even a genius like yourself has apparently trouble apprehending some simple facts.
I am sure I can expect a jester badge from you and your friends. That is what bullies do, right?
I don't know if you ever figured out how to start the DLC, but you need to kill Radahn, then kill Mohg (at Mohgwyn Palace), and then touch the coccoon in the back of the arena where you fought Mohg.

I agree. Even though I enjoy the moments between the boss fights. I play to relax, not to stress about bosses.
